Overview

This document is an installation and user's guide for the Dimplex Ignite Evolve electric fireplace, covering models 500002573 (Evolve 50), 500002574 (Evolve 60), 500002608 (Evolve 74), and 500002563 (Evolve 100). It provides comprehensive instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining the fireplace, ensuring safe and efficient use.

The Dimplex Ignite Evolve electric fireplace is designed to provide warmth and ambiance to any room. It can be installed either partially-recessed into a 2"x4" framed wall or flush-mounted into a 2"x6" framed wall. The unit is not load-bearing, so the framing must support the weight of any building materials above it. For partially-recessed 2"x4" construction, an optional XLFTRIM kit (sold separately) is recommended to accommodate the protruding portion of the fireplace. The wiring entry is conveniently located on the right side at the bottom of the firebox, requiring careful planning during framing to route the power cable.

Before powering on the fireplace, the mirrored glass and front glass must be installed. The mirrored glass is secured into supports at the bottom of the unit and then tilted into a vertical position, held in place by a mounting bracket. The front glass is placed into a lip at the bottom of the firebox opening, tilted vertically, and then secured with screws and a hex key. It's crucial that the firebox is installed flush with the surrounding wall or framing, as any overhang can cause errors with the heater. The suction cup and hex key used for glass installation should be kept in a secure location for future maintenance.

The fireplace offers various media arrangement options to customize the aesthetic. Users can choose between acrylic crystals, tumbled glass embers, and driftwood. For acrylic media, large pieces are spaced along the back of the media tray, and smaller crystals are evenly distributed. For tumbled glass and driftwood, different colored glass pieces can be mixed and dispersed in the media tray, with driftwood pieces placed on top. Custom media ornaments can also be used, provided they fit easily without scratching the glass or bowing the media bed, and are not made of sand or liquid.

The Dimplex Ignite Evolve fireplace operates with Comfort$aver™ technology, which automatically adjusts the fan speed and heater wattage to maintain the desired room temperature. Once the set point is reached, the fan and heater will run at a low level to sustain the temperature. If the room temperature rises significantly, the heater will turn off and periodically cycle on to circulate air until heat is needed again. After the heater is turned off, there is a 2-minute cool-down period before the fan completely shuts off. The fireplace retains its last used settings after a power interruption.

Control of the fireplace is available through hidden touch controls located on the upper right of the unit, a multifunction IR remote control, and the Flame Connect app for mobile devices. For the remote control to function correctly, it must be pointed towards the front of the unit.

The fireplace offers a range of operational features:

  • Standby: Turns the unit on or off, retaining previous settings when reactivated.
  • Flame Effect: Toggles the flame effect and media on or off.
  • Heat: Turns the heater on or off. The fireplace beeps once and displays an icon when activated. It can operate in heat-only mode by turning off flame and color effects.
  • Heat Disable: A safety feature accessible via hidden touch controls, allowing permanent or temporary disabling of the heat function.
  • Temperature Increase/Decrease: Adjusts the temperature setting from 7°C to 30°C (45°F to 86°F). The set temperature flashes for 2 seconds, then the ambient room temperature is displayed.
  • Temperature Display (°C ↔ °F): Toggles between Fahrenheit and Celsius, also accessible via hidden touch controls.
  • Flame Speed: Cycles through 5 different flame speeds.
  • Heat Mode: Cycles through 4 modes: Normal (automatic adjustment), Heat Boost (maximum power for 20 minutes), Eco (reduced power for energy saving), and Fan (fan only).
  • Mood Themes: Cycles through 8 different color options for the media bed lighting, including White, Blue, Violet, Red, Green, Prism (media cycles through colors), Kaleidoscope (media and accents cycle at different rates), and Midnight mode (media off).
  • Custom Color: Freezes media and accent lights to a desired color when in Prism or Kaleidoscope modes.
  • Brightness: Cycles through brightness and flicker modes: Solid H (High Brightness), Solid L (Low Brightness), Cycle H (High Brightness with flickering media and accent lights), and Cycle L (Low Brightness with flickering media and accent lights).
  • Flame Themes: Cycles through 7 different flame themes, offering various orange and blue accent combinations.
  • Ambient Light Sensor: Turns the sensor on or off, which automatically adjusts fireplace light brightness based on room ambient light.
  • Timer: Sets the fireplace to turn off after a specified duration, from 30 minutes to 8 hours in 30-minute intervals.
  • Factory Reset: Resets all settings to factory default and disconnects from the Wi-Fi network, performed via hidden touch controls.

Maintenance features are straightforward to ensure the longevity and performance of the fireplace.

  • Remote Control Battery Replacement: Requires a Philips screwdriver to remove the battery cover. A 3 Volt (CR2032 or similar) battery is installed with the + side facing up. Batteries should be recycled properly.
  • Cleaning: Before any maintenance or cleaning, the power must be disconnected, and the heater allowed to cool.
    • Mirrored Glass Cleaning: The mirrored glass is cleaned at the factory. For dust, lightly dust with a clean dry cloth. For fingerprints or marks, use a damp cloth and completely dry with a lint-free cloth to prevent water spots. Abrasive cleaners should not be used.
    • Fireplace Surface Cleaning: Use only a damp cloth on painted surfaces; avoid abrasive cleaners. Regular inspection of the unit is recommended, at least yearly, to prevent dust and dirt accumulation, which can cause heat buildup and damage. Any servicing beyond installation and cleaning should be performed by an authorized service representative.

The manual also includes troubleshooting tips for common issues such as the fireplace not turning on, the heater not working, circuit breaker trips, and error codes. For more detailed troubleshooting and error codes, users are directed to the Service Manual available on the Dimplex website.
