Overview

Function Description

The primary function of the DK-30 is to grind coffee beans. It is designed to provide a cool and homogeneous particle distribution, which is crucial for preserving the coffee's taste and aroma. The grinder features a step-less grind adjustment mechanism, allowing for precise control over the fineness of the grind to suit various brewing methods.

Usage Features

  • Grinding Capacity: Offers large grinding capacity at all settings.

  • Burrs: Equipped with accurate, wear-resistant burrs that can be re-sharpened 2-3 times, extending their lifespan and maintaining grinding quality.
  • Start-up Procedure: After electrical connection, remove the container's lid, add coffee beans, place a bag for ground coffee between the nose and discharge tube, then push the on/off switch to begin grinding.
  • Grind Adjustment Procedure:
    1. Ensure discs are clean.
    2. Install discs on rotating and stationary parts, tightening screws.
    3. Clean grinding chamber edges and stationary disc underside.
    4. Adjust grind setting to #9.
    5. Align screw holes of stationary disc with grinding chamber and insert screws tightly.
    6. Replace cover with plastic hopper.
    7. Plug in the grinder.
    8. Remove the screw in the center of the adjusting knob.
    9. With the adjustment knob on #9 (French Press), turn the grinder on.
    10. With the motor running, slowly adjust the grind towards #1 until metal scraping is heard. If no metallic sound at #1, pull the knob away, set #9 in front of the red line, and readjust towards #1.
    11. Note the knob's position when metal sound is first heard. Increase adjustment counter-clockwise by one line (or half a setting).
    12. Pull the adjusting knob away from the grinder housing, and with it pulled, position #1 in front of the red arrow.
    13. Grind a handful of beans on #1; the output should be a powder. No metal sound should be heard on any setting after completion.
    14. Tighten the screw in the center of the adjusting knob.
    15. If the grind is not powder, repeat the installation section.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning Operations (User):
    • Always turn off the main switch and unplug the power cord before cleaning.
    • Use a damp (non-abrasive) cloth for cleaning the base and outer case. Avoid alcohol or solvents on written or painted parts.
  • Cleaning and Replacing Discs (User/Technician):
    • Unplug the grinder.
    • Remove the plastic hopper (item nr. 230501).
    • Dismantle the aluminum cover (item nr. 230111).
    • Take apart the upper grinder disc from the aluminum cover (item nr. 230110).
    • Take apart the lower grinder disc from the bottom side of the grinder chamber (item nr. 230109).
    • Clean grinder discs, rotor (item nr. 230108) blades from coffee, and the discharge tube (item nr. 230007) using a brush or compressed air.
  • Specialized Maintenance: Maintenance should be performed by specialized personnel authorized by the manufacturer.
  • Spare Parts: Only original spare parts should be used for repairs.
  • Electrical Safety: Always unplug the electricity when carrying out maintenance checks or operations.
  • Shut-down and Dismantling: When the appliance is no longer to be used, it should be made inoperable by cutting the power cord after disconnecting from the socket. Parts liable to create hazards should be made danger-proof. The machine should be stored out of reach of children or unsuitable people. For disposal, deliver the appliance to an authorized refuse collection center; do not dispose of it in the environment.

Safety Precautions

  • General: The appliance is designed solely for grinding coffee beans. Any other use is considered unsuitable and hazardous. The manufacturer is not responsible for damages caused by unsuitable, incorrect, or unreasonable use.
  • Handling: Do not touch the appliance with damp or wet hands or use it barefoot.
  • Electrical:
    • An earth connection is mandatory, and the system must conform to local regulations.
    • A centralized life-saving system is recommended to prevent electric shocks.
    • Do not pull the power cord or the appliance to disconnect the plug.
    • Avoid extensions or flying connections, especially in damp environments.
    • If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced as soon as possible.
    • Always unplug the appliance when not in use.
  • Usage Restrictions:
    • Do not allow children or unsuitable persons to use the appliance.
    • Never immerse the motor base in water.
    • Do not use water jets or detergents for cleaning.
