Installing a Dolby Digital Cinema System
3.16 Upgrading the DSS220, IMB, and Show Manager Software
When initiating an IMB upgrade, you need to ensure that the projector lamp is
extinguished. To power off the lamp, please refer to the manual provided by the projector
manufacturer.You can upgrade the DSS220, IMB (CAT745), and Show Manager software
using two methods:
Locally from a USB device connected to the DSS220
Remotely using FTP and SSH
3.16.1 Upgrading from a USB Device
To perform an upgrade from a USB device:
1. Obtain the upgrade disc image from
dolbysecure.com/cinematech.
2. Go to
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Win32DiskImager and follow the links to download the
Win32Disk Imager application.
3. Launch the application and connect a spare USB device to your PC.
4. Select the disc image as the image file (you will need to change the dialog to show all
files (
*.*) rather than .img files.
5. Select the drive letter of your USB device as the device, and then click
Write. The
system will completely overwrite any data on the USB device while it writes the disc
image.
6. Remove the USB device from your PC and connect it to one of the DSS220 USB ports.
7. Reboot the DSS220 to perform the upgrade from the USB device.
3.16.2 Upgrading the DSS220, Media Block, and Show Manager Remotely
To perform a remote upgrade:
1. Open an FTP connection to the target system, and enter the user ID
dolbyftp
and password
dolbyftp.
Make sure the mode is set to binary.
2. Transfer the remote upgrade .
dlb file and Media Block upgrade .kdm .zip file (obtain
from Dolby Laboratories) to the target system.
3. Open an SSH connection to the target system, and enter the user ID
administrator
and the password dolby.
4. Enter
cd scripts/.
The following scripts appear:
listUpgradePackages.sh: Lists the upgrade packages uploaded using FTP or
available on a removable device
executeUpgradePackage.sh: Applies an upgrade package and reboots the
system
deleteUpgradePackage.sh: Deletes a previously uploaded (via FTP) upgrade
package
purgeSoftwareKDMs.sh: Deletes previously uploaded software upgrade
.kdm
files
These commands must be prefixed with
./ using local host as the first parameter.
(Steps 5 and 6 show the correct usage.)
5. Enter
./listUpgradePackages.sh localhost.
The following output (or similar output) should appear:
