3.4. Major Electric Parts Replacement
CAUTION:
Do not connect or disconnect the ECM to/from the wiring harness without first removing the
negative(-) battery cable from the battery.
3.4.1. Engine control module(ECM) replacement
<Removal>
1) Close the manual shut off valve.
2) Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3) Disconnect the harness connectors from
the ECM, using a suitable 1/4" nut driver.
CAUTION:
If an improper tool is used ECM
harness
damage may occur.
4) Remove the ECM mounting hardware.
<Installation>
1) Install the harness connectors on the ECM, using the proper tool as described above.
2) Install the ECM using the original mounting hardware
3) Connect the battery ground cable.
4) Open the manual shut off (1/4 turn) valve.
5) Check the system for proper operation using the SCAN-200 service tool.
3.4.2. Throttle valve replacement
<Removal>
1) Close the manual shut off valve.
2) Disconnect the battery ground cable.
3) Disconnect the harness connector from
the throttle valve.
4) Remove the throttle valve attaching
hardware.
5) Remove the throttle valve.
<Installation>
1) Instant the throttle valve using the
original attaching hardware, It is
recommended that new gaskets be
installed.
2) Tighten the attaching hardware to the engine.
3) Connect the harness connector to the throttle valve.
4) Connect the battery ground cable.
5) Open the manual shut off (1/4 turn) valve.
6) Run the vehicle and check for proper operation.
