Proper protection, such as gloves, eye wear, and aprons, are recommended when disassembling a Dosatron.
Step 3: Then, remove the hose.
Step 2: If there is still no suction, turn the water on. If the
Medicator is clicking, unscrew and remove the suction hose nut.
NOTE: To service your D25F Medicator you will need a strap
wrench (Part #TOOL01) and a small tip Phillips head screwdriver.
Step 1: If your Medicator is clicking, but not drawing concentrate,
it could be as simple as the strainer is plugged with debris. Take
a look at the strainer. If it is clogged, clean it out and re-test your
Dosatron.

Overview

The provided document is a troubleshooting guide for the Dosatron D25F Medicator, a water-powered dosing technology. It outlines solutions for three common issues: the medicator clicking but not drawing concentrate, pushing water down into the stock solution tank, and not clicking at all.

Function Description:

The Dosatron D25F Medicator is a water-powered device designed for precise dosing of concentrates into a water line. It operates without electricity, using the flow of water to power a piston that draws and injects the concentrate at a set ratio. This ensures consistent and accurate mixing of solutions for various applications, such as agriculture, horticulture, livestock, and water treatment. The device's primary function is to maintain a desired concentration of a stock solution within a flowing water system.

Important Technical Specifications (as inferred from the troubleshooting guide):

The guide references several parts by their part numbers, which can be considered technical specifications for maintenance and repair:

  • (1) J051: Check valve seal
  • (1) MPDI122: Check valve assembly
  • (1) J009: Plunger seal
  • (1) P169: Check valve barb
  • TOOL01: Strap wrench (for loosening the lid)
  • M238: Actuator springs (two of them)
  • P421: Piston shell
  • J020: Push rod o-ring

These part numbers indicate specific components that are critical to the medicator's operation and are subject to wear and tear, requiring periodic replacement. The device is designed to be disassembled for maintenance, suggesting a modular construction.

Usage Features:

The Dosatron D25F is designed for ease of use and maintenance, as highlighted by the troubleshooting steps:

  • Concentrate Suction: The device is expected to draw concentrate from a stock solution tank. Issues with this function are addressed in Part 1.
  • Water-Powered Operation: It relies on water flow, eliminating the need for external power sources.
  • Air Bleed Button: The lid features an air bleed button to release pressure, simplifying troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Strainer: An integrated strainer prevents debris from entering the system, protecting internal components. Regular cleaning of the strainer is a basic usage and maintenance task.
  • Suction Hose: The device connects to a stock solution tank via a suction hose, which can be easily removed and reattached.

Maintenance Features:

The troubleshooting guide is essentially a comprehensive maintenance manual, detailing various aspects of device upkeep:

  • Regular Inspection: Users are encouraged to regularly inspect critical components like the plunger seal, check valve seal, check valve assembly, actuator springs, and piston shell for damage, wear, or dirt.
  • Component Replacement: The guide provides specific part numbers for replacement components (e.g., J009 for plunger seal, J051 for check valve seal, MPDI122 for check valve assembly, M238 for actuator springs, P421 for piston shell, J020 for push rod o-ring). This indicates that these parts are considered consumables or wear items.
  • Disassembly and Reassembly: Detailed steps are provided for disassembling and reassembling various sections of the medicator, including the lid, piston, check valve barb, and actuator assembly. This modular design facilitates component replacement and cleaning.
  • Tool Requirements: Specific tools, such as a strap wrench (Part #TOOL01) and a small tip Phillips head screwdriver, are identified as necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Cleaning: Cleaning of the strainer and potentially other dirty components (like the check valve assembly) is a key maintenance step to restore functionality.
  • Seal Replacement: The guide emphasizes replacing seals (plunger seal, check valve seal, push rod o-ring) if they show signs of damage or if their last replacement date is unknown, highlighting the importance of these components for proper suction and preventing backflow.
  • Piston Shell Inspection and Replacement: Instructions are given to check the piston shell for wear, scratches, and proper fit, indicating that this is a critical component for the medicator's pumping action.
  • Actuator Assembly Maintenance: Steps are provided for disassembling and reassembling the actuator assembly, including checking and replacing actuator springs and the push rod o-ring.
  • Safety Recommendations: The guide explicitly recommends proper protection (gloves, eye wear, aprons) when disassembling the Dosatron, emphasizing user safety during maintenance.
  • QR Codes for Further Information: The inclusion of QR codes linking to Dosatron's video page and YouTube Channel suggests a commitment to providing accessible and visual maintenance support.

In summary, the Dosatron D25F Medicator is a robust, water-powered dosing device designed for reliable and accurate concentrate injection. Its modular construction and the availability of detailed troubleshooting and maintenance instructions, along with specific replacement parts, ensure its long-term usability and ease of repair.
