The DR-338 Carbon Infrared Heater is a versatile heating solution designed for both indoor and outdoor use, offering the flexibility of wall, ceiling, or tripod mounting. This robust and weatherproof heater provides instant and comfortable heat, similar to the sun, making it suitable for domestic and commercial heating applications in outdoor areas.
Function Description:
The DR-338 operates as a carbon infrared heater, producing heat directly without warming the surrounding air, which makes it highly efficient, especially in outdoor or semi-open environments. It is designed for safe operation, but users must adhere to all safety instructions during installation, maintenance, and operation to prevent fire, electric shock, injury, or property damage. The heater features a tilt function, automatically stopping operation if it exceeds a 45° angle, enhancing safety. It can be controlled manually via a push button on the unit or remotely using the provided remote control. The remote control allows users to turn the heater on/off, adjust heat levels (L1-L2-L3), and set a timer for up to 9 hours.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Model: DR-338
- Voltage: 110-120V AC
- Wattage: 1500W
- Hertz: 60 Hz
- Dimensions (W×H×D): 34.6 x 6.27 x 3.33 inches
- Weight: 6.5 lbs

- Safety Feature: Automatic shut-off if tilted beyond 45°
Usage Features:
- Mounting Flexibility: The heater comes with a mounting bracket specifically designed for wall or ceiling installation. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically, though horizontal usage is recommended for higher efficiency. For outdoor use, a weatherproof outlet is recommended.
- Tripod Mount: The heater can also be attached to a tripod stand, providing portability and flexibility in placement. The power cord must be secured to the stand, maintaining a minimum distance of 5.9 inches from the heater's edge.
- Minimum Clearances:
- Lowest part of the heater from ground level: 2.4m (94.5") for both wall and ceiling mounting.
- Between appliance and ceiling (horizontal/vertical wall mounting): min. 0.4m (15.8").
- From corners (vertical use): min. 0.4m (15.8").
- From corners (horizontal use): min. 0.5m (19.7").
- From corners (ceiling installation): min. 0.5m (19.7").
- From living beings: min. 1m (39.4").
- From front side of the heater to flammable materials (wood, carton, cloth, etc.): min. 1m (39.4").
- From ceiling and adjacent wall: min. 0.5m (19.7").
- Angle Adjustment: The mounting brackets allow for adjustment of the heater's direction and angle. When mounting horizontally or to a ceiling, the heater should not be positioned at an angle more than 90° and less than 45°. The supply cable must be at the lower end if the heater is installed at an angle or vertically.
- Remote Control: A remote control is included for convenient operation, allowing users to power on/off, adjust heat levels (L1, L2, L3), and set a timer (0-9 hours). The remote requires 2 AAA/Alkaline batteries (not included).
- Grounding: The heater is designed for use on 120 volts and includes a three-blade grounding-type plug. An adapter (shown at C in Figure 68.1) is available for two-slot receptacles, requiring the green grounding lug to be connected to a permanent ground. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available.
- Tripod Stability: When using the tripod mount, it is important to attach three heavy bags (5kg/11lbs of sand, rock, or dirt) to the stand's legs for stability.
Maintenance Features:
- Regular Cleaning: The heater requires regular cleaning to maintain efficiency and prevent dust accumulation. The external surfaces can be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth and mild detergent.
- Reflector and IR-Filament: The cleanliness of the reflector and IR-Filament should be checked at least once a month. If dirty, clean according to instructions.
- Dust Removal: If the heater has collected dust or dirt inside the unit or around the heating element, it must be cleaned by a qualified service agent. Do not operate the heater in this condition.
- Heating Element: Avoid touching the heating element with bare fingers, as residue can affect the lamp's life. If accidentally touched, remove finger marks with a soft cloth moistened with mentholated spirit or alcohol.
- Power Cord: The power cord and plug should be checked carefully before each use for any damage. The supplied mains cable must not contact the top surface of the heater during operation.
- No User Serviceable Parts: The heater contains no user-serviceable parts. Any damage or breakdown should be addressed by returning the product to the manufacturer or its service agent. Damaged supply cords must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or similarly qualified person to avoid hazards.
- Storage: When not in use, store the heater in a cool, dry location in its packaging carton to prevent dust and dirt buildup.
- Recycling: At the end of its useful life, the product should not be disposed of with household waste but recycled according to local authority or retailer advice.
