The Dr. Infrared Portable Space Heater, model DR-978, is a sophisticated heating appliance designed to provide safe, efficient, and comfortable warmth for household and personal use. This heater utilizes an Advanced Dual Heating System (ADHS), combining the energy efficiency of infrared heat with the comfort of convection heat. This innovative system aims to heat rooms quickly and comfortably, eliminating hot and cold spots.
The primary function of the Dr. Infrared Portable Space Heater is to provide supplemental heating for rooms. It operates at 1500 watts and offers two heat settings, allowing users to adjust the heating intensity according to their needs. The heater is equipped with a comprehensive set of safety features to ensure secure operation. These include thermal cutoff protection, which automatically shuts off the unit if it overheats for any reason. Additionally, an inlet air overheat protection system is integrated to cut off the unit if the inlet air duct becomes obstructed, preventing overheating. A safety tip-over switch is also included, designed to automatically turn off the heater if it is accidentally tipped in any direction. Once returned to an upright position, the heater is ready for use again.
The heater features a room temperature LED display, which shows the current room temperature and the set temperature. To turn on the heater, simply plug the power supply cord into a properly grounded 120VAC, 60Hz wall outlet. The POWER LED will illuminate. Pressing the MODE button will turn the heater ON, and it will initially enter ECO Mode. The heater offers three main heating modes: ECO, HIGH, and LOW, in addition to a STANDBY mode. Users can toggle between these modes by pressing the MODE button. To exit any mode and enter STANDBY, the STANDBY button should be pressed.
To set the desired temperature, first choose the desired mode (ECO, HIGH, or LOW). Press the "+" button once until the numeric temperature display starts flashing. Then, use the "+" button to increase the temperature or the "-" button to decrease it. Once the temperature is set, the heater will warm the room using the selected mode. The heater samples the room temperature every 4 minutes after the desired temperature is reached to ensure it maintains the set point.
The heater includes a Night Mode for quiet operation during nighttime hours. When the surrounding environment becomes dark, or the heater cannot detect light, it automatically switches to Night Mode. In this mode, once the set temperature is reached, the heater samples the room temperature less frequently, every 30 minutes, to minimize disturbance. When the heater detects light again, it automatically reverts to ECO Mode.
The LED display typically shows the set temperature. To view the current room temperature, press and hold the MODE button, then press the "-" button. The room temperature will be displayed for 30 seconds before returning to the set temperature display.
The remote control mirrors the functions of the control panel on the heater's front. It comes with a pre-installed battery; users should remove the transparent plastic sheet before first use. If the remote is not used for a month or more, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage and damage.
The timer function allows users to set an automatic shut-off time. Press the TIMER button on the remote until "Set Time" starts flashing. The default value is 3 hours. Use the "up" or "down" arrow buttons to increase or decrease the set time, which can range from 1 to 12 hours. The timer will activate once the LED display stops flashing. The heater will automatically shut off when the set time is reached. To turn off the timer feature, follow the same steps and set the time to 0.
The heater is designed to plug directly into a grounded wall outlet/receptacle. It should never be used with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip) to prevent overheating of the power cord or fire. Users should periodically check the plug and cord for signs of overheating or deformation. If any issues are observed, discontinue use and contact an authorized service center or a qualified electrician. The heater is not intended for outdoor use or in bathrooms, laundry areas, or similar high-moisture locations. It should be placed on a flat, dry, stable surface to prevent tipping and ensure proper operation.

The heater is equipped with an electrostatic filter located at the rear, which should be cleaned once per month or whenever dust is visible on the filter.
The fan motor is factory-lubricated for life and does not require any further lubrication.
