Selecting a Sensor
Select a sensor according to your monitoring needs and the size of your patient’s
endotracheal tube. To monitor respiratory mechanics only, use a Flow sensor. For both
respiratory mechanics and etCO
2
parameters, use a combined CO2/Flow sensor.
To monitor respiratory mechanics only
1. Select an appropriate flow sensor.
2. Plug the sensor tubing into the etCO
2
/Respiratory Mechanics pod.
3. Connect the flow sensor to the breathing circuit as shown in the following
illustration. A message at the top left of the screen confirms the size of the
sensor and its correct connection.
