PRINTHEAD CABLE REPLACEMENT:
1. Release carriage from capping station and roll out to middle of printer. (Indicated below 1-A)
Place rag under the area you are working on.Just to catch any ink that might be dropped during
the install.
2. Release pressure off of the CMYK lines by loosening the caps on the ink bottles.
(Indicated on pg.2 Fig. 1-C)
3. Unscrew two thumscrews from carriage (Indicated below 1-A)

(Always POWER DOWN printer and UNPLUG before doing any repair work)
Two “thumscrews” that hold the “RETAINER BAR” to the carriage.
Remove those screws in order to remove retaining bar.
Carefully slide “RETAINER BAR” out

Summary

Printhead Cable Replacement Procedure

Initial Preparations

Release carriage, loosen ink bottle caps, and unscrew retainer bar thumbscrews.

Remove Retainer Bar and Dampers

Slide out retainer bar and remove CMYK and white ink dampers.

Remove Printhead and FFC Cables

Gently pull printhead out and carefully remove FFC cables.

Observe Cable Orientation and Remove Cover

Note cable direction and remove the CR board cover.

Template and Connect New FFC Cables

Template existing cables for new ones and connect them to the CR board.

Connect Cables to Printhead and Re-seat

Connect FFC cables to the printhead and carefully re-seat the print head.

Re-seat Ink Dampers

Carefully re-seat white dampers first, then CMYK dampers in correct order.

Final Checks and Printer Setup

Re-seat retainer bar, check connections, dock carriage, and perform head cleanings.
