Alert Message Meaning End condition
HORIZON
RECOVERING…
This alert is displayed anytime the unit is rotated at
a rate faster than 150 degrees/second. Rotating the
unit faster than this threshold overloads the
sensors, leading to a potentially erroneous display.
When this alert is displayed, the horizon indication
turns grey and black to indicate that the artificial
horizon is not currently a trusted source. This alert
can only be triggered when airspeed is non-zero;
using the EFIS-D10A on the bench will not trigger
this alert.
Pressing the ACK button removes the text of the
alert. However, the horizon indication remains
grey/black until the unit has resumed normal
operation. Once the unit detects relatively
coordinated flight, it usually recovers within 5
seconds.
HOLD TO POWER
DOWN
This alert appears when you have pressed the
POWER button in Main Menu 1. If the button is
held for 2 seconds, the unit turns off.
Releasing the POWER button causes the alert to
disappear, allowing the unit to continue normal
operation.
TEMPERATURE OUT
OF SPEC
This alert appears when the ambient temperature
sensed by the unit is below -30ºC or above 50ºC.
The sensors in the unit have a certain temperature
range within which they are specified to operate
normally. If they operate outside this temperature
range, the attitude result can be compromised.
When the temperature is too high or low, the
horizon indication turns to grey/black to indicate
the potential unreliability of the sensors.
The text portion of the alert disappears when you
press any of the buttons. However, the horizon will
not display blue/brown until the unit senses
temperature within its specified range. If ambient
temperature is above 50ºC, the unit always
displays the horizon as grey/black. However, if
ambient is below -30ºC, it is possible that the unit
can heat itself up enough to operate normally.
TIMER EXPIRED
This alert appears when you have a down timer
enabled and it has reached 0. When this occurs, the
up timer menu displays and the timer display
flashes.
Pressing the ACK button removes the alert and
stops the timer’s flashing. However, you must
press STOP in the Up Timer menu to stop the up
timer. This allows you to see how much time has
elapsed since the down timer has expired.
