Check each of these possibilities, and take corrective actions such as replacing damaged parts or adding new fluid of the proper viscosity.

Also, test for air leaks by pouring oil on joints and around the drive shaft and listen for a change in operation. If there is a defective bearing, disassemble the pump and replace it. Re-align shafts to fix coupling misalignment.
