Why is my Echo PAS-230 Trimmer engine cranking but not starting?
    • M
      Michael MercadoJul 31, 2025
If your Echo Trimmer's engine cranks but struggles to start or doesn't start at all, potential causes include a clogged fuel strainer or fuel line, or issues with the carburetor. Try cleaning or replacing the fuel strainer or fuel line. If the fuel mixture is too rich, open the choke, clean or replace the air filter, or adjust the carburetor. If there's no spark, ensure the switch is turned ON. Also, inspect the spark plug. If the spark gap is incorrect, adjust it to .65mm (0.026 in.). Clean or replace the plug if it's covered with carbon or fouled with fuel. If the plug is defective, replace it.

    • R
      Randy MezaAug 7, 2025
If your Echo Trimmer's engine cranks but doesn't start, it could be due to several reasons. There might be no fuel at the carburetor, in which case you should clean or replace it. The fuel mixture might be too rich; try opening the choke, cleaning or replacing the air filter, and adjusting the carburetor. Also, check for spark; if there's no spark, turn the switch to the ON position. You can also adjust the spark by cleaning or replacing the spark plug.

What to do if Echo Trimmer engine runs, but dies or does not accelerate properly?
    • D
      David BellAug 14, 2025
If your Echo Trimmer engine runs but dies or doesn't accelerate properly, the air filter might be dirty, so clean or replace it. The fuel filter could also be dirty, so replace it. A plugged fuel vent can cause this issue, so clean or replace it. Inspect the spark plug; if it's dirty or worn, clean and adjust or replace it. Improper adjustment can also be a factor, so adjust it. Make sure the cooling system is clean and not plugged. Finally, check the spark arrestor screen; if plugged, replace it.

      Margaret EllisonAug 22, 2025
If your Echo Trimmer engine runs but either dies or doesn't accelerate properly, several factors could be at play. A dirty air filter, fuel filter, or a plugged fuel vent can cause these issues; clean or replace them as needed. Similarly, a dirty or worn spark plug should be cleaned, adjusted, or replaced. An improper carburetor adjustment also affects performance, so adjust it accordingly. Ensure the cooling system is clean and that the spark arrestor screen isn't plugged; clean the cooling system and replace the screen if necessary.
