The troubleshooting process
Symptoms and solutions
Look in these charts for the various problems and possible actions. To learn possible
causes and solutions for a specific error condition, find the symptom in the charts and
perform the appropriate suggested actions in the order listed in the numbered steps.
Verify functionality after each numbered step. Proceed to the next numbered step only if
the problem persists. For example, in the steps:
1. Check and reseat the copier interface cable between the Fiery X3eTY and the copier.
2. Replace the copier interface cable.
Perform step 1 and then verify functionality. If the problem is resolved, do not perform
step 2.

Fiery X3eTY does not
start up
One of the following:
•Faulty cable
connections
•Fiery X3eTY is
stalled in an incorrect
power state
1. Check again all cables and connections. Make sure that the copier is
connected to a power source.
2. Power off/on the copier.
3. Power off/on the Fiery X3eTY using the Fiery X3eTY power switch.
4. Firmly press the Fiery X3eTY soft power button once for two seconds and
then release.
If the problem persists, contact your authorized service/support provider.
Fiery X3eTY starts up
then shuts down
One of the following:
•Print engine is
powered off
•Fiery X3eTY is
powered off
•Faulty connection
between Fiery X3eTY
and copier
•Faulty power supply
•Faulty motherboard
•Faulty CPU
•Faulty copier
interface board
1. Make sure both the copier power switch and the Fiery X3eTY power switch
are in ON position.
2. Check and reseat the copier interface cable between the Fiery X3eTY and
the Fiery X3eTY.
3. Replace the copier interface cable.
4. Listen for the power supply fan and feel for air near the Fiery X3eTY
power switch where the power supply is located.
If you do not feel air from the power supply fan, you may have a faulty
power supply which you must replace.
5. Clear the CMOS and power-up settings (see page 72).
6. Replace the motherboard.
7. Replace the CPU.
8. Replace the copier interface board.
