12. Troubleshooting guide
Fault Possible cause Remedy
No material at the nozzle. - Nozzle is clogged.
- Intake tube is
clogged.
- Setting screw for
controlling the mate-
rial volume is turned
too far to the left (–).
- Intake tube is loose.
- No pressure build-up
in the paint tub.
- Clean the nozzle.
- Clean the intake tube.
- Turn the setting screw for controlling the ma-
terial volume to the right (+).
- Plug in the intake tube.
- Turn the paint tub until tight.
Material drips from the nozzle
after spraying.
- Nozzle is loose.
- Nozzle is worn.
- Nozzle seal is worn.
- Accumulation of ma-
terial at the air cap
and nozzle.
- Tighten the nozzle.
- Replace the nozzle.
- Replace the nozzle seal.
- Clean the air cap and nozzle.
Atomization is too coarse. - Material viscosity is
too high.
- Setting screw for
controlling the mate-
rial volume is turned
too far to the right
(+).
- Nozzle is dirty.
- Air fi lter is heavily
soiled.
- Pressure build-up in
the paint tub is too
low.
- Thin the material.
- Turn the setting screw for controlling the ma-
terial volume to the left (–).
- Clean the nozzle.
- Clean or replace the air fi lter.
- Turn the paint tub until tight.
Intermittent ("fl uttering") spray - Almost all of the ma-
terial in the paint tub
has been used up.
- Air fi lter is heavily
soiled.
- Fill in more material.
- Clean or replace the air fi lter.
Paint runs - Too much material is
being applied.
- Turn the setting screw for controlling the ma-
terial volume to the left (–).
Too much paint mist (over-
spray).
- Distance from the
object being sprayed
is too big.
- Too much material is
being applied.
- Reduce the spraying distance.
- Turn the setting screw for controlling the ma-
terial volume to the left (–).
Poor coverage on the wall. - Material too cold
- Strongly absorbing
surface or paint with
poor covering ca-
pacity.
- Distance is too big.
- Wait for the material to reach room tempe-
rature.
- Spray in criss-cross manner.
- Go closer to the object you are spraying.
