To assure you install this model easily and correctly, PLEASE READ THESE
SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE STARTING THE INSTALLATION. CHECK
YOUR INSTALLATION FOR COMPLIANCE WITH PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL AND
OTHER APPLICABLE CODES. After installation, leave these instructions inside the
fountain for future reference.
IMPORTANT
ALL SERVICE TO BE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE PERSON
IMPORTANT! INSTALLER PLEASE NOTE.
THE GROUNDING OF ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT SUCH AS TELEPHONE, COMPUTERS, ETC. TO
WATER LINES IS A COMMON PROCEDURE. THIS GROUNDING MAY BE IN THE BUILDING OR MAY
OCCUR AWAY FROM THE BUILDING. THIS GROUNDING CAN CAUSE ELECTRICAL FEEDBACK INTO
A FOUNTAIN, CREATING AN ELECTROLYSIS WHICH CAUSES A METALLIC TASTE OR AN INCREASE
IN THE METAL CONTENT OF THE WATER. THIS CONDITION IS AVOIDABLE BY USING THE PROPER
MATERIALS AS INDICATED. ANY DRAIN FITTINGS PROVIDED BY THE INSTALLER SHOULD BE
MADE OF PLASTIC TO ELECTRICALLY ISOLATE THE FOUNTAIN FROM THE BUILDING PLUMBING
SYSTEM. WE SUGGEST THAT THE BOTTLE FILLER BE PROTECTED BY A GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT
INTERRUPTER (GFCI)

Overview

The Elkay EZH20 In-Wall Bottle Filling Station is a device designed to provide convenient and hygienic access to drinking water, primarily for refilling bottles. It is available in various models, including LZWSM8*, LZWSMD*, LZWSM8P*, EZWSM8*, EZWSMD*, and EZWSM8P*, with both filtered and non-filtered options, and some models include a chiller for cold water.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Elkay EZH20 In-Wall Bottle Filling Station is to dispense water for refilling bottles. It utilizes an electronic eye (IR sensor) for activation, allowing for touchless operation, which enhances hygiene. The device can be installed in-wall, providing a sleek and integrated appearance. Depending on the model, it may include a chiller to provide cold water and a filter to improve water quality. A bottle counter display tracks the number of bottles refilled, promoting environmental awareness.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Water Inlet: 1/4" O.D. tube for water inlet to the cooler.
  • Cold Water Supply: 3/8" O.D. tube connects to the cold water supply.
  • Chiller Water Inlet/Outlet: 3/8" O.D. tube for chiller water inlet and 1/4" O.D. tube for chiller water outlet.
  • Waste Tube: 1-1/4" (32mm) waste tube furnished.
  • Minimum Depth (Non-Refrigerated Models): 8" (203mm) minimum depth.
  • Minimum Depth (Refrigerated Models): 12" (305mm) minimum depth.
  • Electrical Inlet: Positioned for connection to the building's electrical system.
  • Filter Compatibility: EWF3000 WaterSentry Plus filter (for filtered units).
  • Maximum Inlet Water Temperature (for filtered units): 100°F (38°C).
  • Maximum Supply Pressure (for filtered units): If supply pressure exceeds 100 psi, a pressure regulator set to 100 psi or below must be installed.
  • Flow Rate Estimation (Refrigerated Models): Approximately 1.0 gallon per minute.
  • Flow Rate Estimation (Non-Refrigerated Models): Approximately 1.5 gallons per minute.
  • Bottle Volume Simulation: 1 bottle is simulated as 20 oz.

Usage Features:

  • Touchless Activation: An electronic eye (IR sensor) detects the presence of a bottle or hand, initiating water flow for hygienic, hands-free operation.
  • Bottle Counter: An LCD display tracks the number of bottles refilled, providing a visual representation of environmental impact.
  • Filter Status LED: For filtered models, a green LED indicates good filter status, and the display can show "RST FLTR" for filter reset.
  • In-Wall Installation: Designed for flush mounting within a wall cavity, offering a clean and space-saving installation.
  • Adjustable IR Sensor Range: The IR sensor's detection range can be adjusted from 1 to 10, allowing customization based on installation environment and user preference.
  • Unit Type Setting: The control board can be configured for "REFRIG" (refrigerated) or "NON-RFRG" (non-refrigerated) units, which affects flow rate estimations and bottle count calculations.
  • Filter Capacity Setting: For filtered models, the filter capacity can be set (e.g., 3000GAL or 6000GAL) to ensure accurate filter monitoring.

Maintenance Features:

  • Easy Filter Replacement: The filter cartridge is designed for straightforward installation and removal, requiring approximately 13" minimum room under the filter head. Connections are made using quick-connect fittings.
  • Control Board Access: The programming button for setting the control board parameters (filter monitor reset, IR sensor range, unit type, bottle count reset, filter capacity) is located at the bottom right corner of the upper panel, accessible by opening the lower panel.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: The control board displays messages like "RST FLTR," "RST BCNT," "RNG SET," and "SETTINGS" to guide users through programming and maintenance procedures.
  • Flushing Procedure: After installation or filter replacement, a flushing procedure (dispensing approximately 1 gallon of water) is recommended to purge air and fine carbon particles from the filter and strainer.
  • Serviceability: The manual emphasizes that "ALL SERVICE TO BE PERFORMED BY AN AUTHORIZED SERVICE PERSON," indicating that complex repairs should be handled by professionals.
  • Drainage System: Includes drain fittings and an elbow for connection to a p-trap, facilitating waste water removal. Plastic drain fittings are recommended to electrically isolate the fountain from the building plumbing system, preventing electrolysis.
  • GFCI Protection: It is suggested that the bottle filler be protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for electrical safety.
