1. The EBC 30 initializes when 120 VAC is supplied. The control goes through its start-up sequence then
displays the differential pressure reading of the XTP2.
2. Thechimneyfanwillruncontinuously.Whennoreplacesareonandalldampersareclosed,
the fan will run at an idle speed.
3. Whentheusercallsforheat,thereplacedamperopens.Theactuatoriscontainsauxiliaryswitchesthat
areconnectedinseriestothethermallimitcircuitofthereplaceburner.Whentheactuatormovestoits
open position, the auxiliary switch closes, allowing the thermal limit circuit to close.
4. When the pilot has heated the thermal couple in the limit circuit, the gas valve opens and allows the
replacetooperate.Thiscircuitpreventsthereplacefromoperatingwhenthedamperisclosed.
5. At the same time the damper opens, the XTP2 senses the rise in pressure and sends a signal to the
control to increase the fan speed until the chimney reaches the pressure set-point of the EBC 30.
In the event of a mechanical or electrical failure, the auxiliary switch goes to the normally open position
and closes the gas valve.
6. Upon additional calls for heat, the actuators again open, close the end switches, open the gas valves
andallowthereplacestooperate.TheXTP2,EBC30andRSVfangothroughthesamesequenceto
increase the fan speed until the chimney can maintain the pressure set-point.
7. Intheeventoffanorcontrolfailure,thethermallimitcircuitinthereplacewillstillbeactive.The
replacewillremainoperationaluntilthethermocouplereaches160
o
F; at which point, the circuit will
open and shut off the gas valve.
