5.4 Setting the Damper Positions
Toensureequaldrafttoallreplaces,eachdampermustbeindividuallypresettoanOPENposition.
Becausethereplacesthatareclosertothefanseemoreairowthanthosefartheraway,the
closerreplacesdonotneedtobeopentothefull90°tomaintainthepressuresetpointintheconnector.
However,duringoperation,youshouldassumethatthedampersfarthestfromthereplace
will be fully open to 90°.
To set the damper positions:
1. Beginwiththereplaceclosesttothefan.
2. All dampers should be closed except for the one being set.
3. Set the damper to 45
o
. To test the appropriate damper position:
a. Placeasmokematchorapieceofthinpaperabovethereplaceopening.
b. Ifthereplaceispullingtoomuch,closeoffthedamperandretest.
c. Ifthereplaceisspilling,adjustthedamperto>45°andretest.
d. Repeatuntiltheproperowismaintained.
4. Workingfromthetopoortothebottomoor,repeattheaboveprocedureforallreplaces.
