5.1 General
The ergometrics er800S ergometer can be optimally adapted to every test subject.
Two different load algorithms are available as needed. Selection can be made
between a WHO conforming increment program or a linear program. Beyond this,
the RS-232 interface can be used to link with a computer system in order to perform
a Conconi test program. (Should you be interested in this feature, ergoline would be
glad to provide you with a list of suitable programs.)
5.2 Setting the Load Algorithm
Alternative load algorithms are available on the ergometrics er800S to accommodate
an array of philosophies in stress analysis and rehabilitation. Either a WHO conforming
increment program, with standardized duration and load increments, may be run or
a linear program can be formulated in which the load changes may be pre-determined
in 5 Watt steps over 1 minute periods.
Algorithms are selected by simultaneously pressing the keys „+/- 25 WATT“. The
current setting can be checked by simultaneously pressing the „+/- 5 WATT“ keys.
The algorithm setting will be displayed as „9.3“ or „3.3“ respectively.
5.2.a. Linear Load Increment Program V 3.3 (3.3)
Linear programs can be formulated in which load changes may be pre-determined in
multiples of 5 Watt steps over 1 minute periods.
Example:
pre-determined load change: 25 Watt
load change 25 Watt / 5 Watt = 5 steps
1 minute / 5 steps = 12 seconds
Therefore the load will be changed every 12 seconds by a 5 Watt increment so that
the stress change will be 25 Watts per minute.
Pulse-steady-state programs follow an algorithm so that load changes occur only to
the point at which the pre-set pulse rate is reached. Once the exercise pulse rate is
reached the ergometer automatically changes the load to maintain that pulse rate.
