In order to use the built-in modem together with a PC, you have to install the
modem on the PC.
The following requirements has to be fulfilled in order for you to use the built-
in modem with a PC:
• IR-equipped computer with Windows® 95/98/NT 4.0, which is configured
for infrared communication (unless you are using a cable). The computer
also needs a Pentium® processor, 30 MB of free hard drive space and a
CD-ROM drive.
To install the built-in modem on the PC
1. Insert the CD in your CD drive. The CD should start automatically, but if it
does not, you can start it manually by choosing Run from the Start menu,
and typing d:\start.exe (change the D drive if your CD drive is named
differently). You can also find the files necessary for installing the built-in
modem on: http://mobileinternet.ericsson.com
2. From the main menu, click
Select language
and then click
OK
.
3. Click
Software installation

Install now!

4. Follow the Installation Wizard. Place your mobile phone next to the
infrared eye on the computer (or connect it to the cable) when the Wizard
instructs you to.
Note! Do NOT connect your mobile phone to the computer until the
installation program tells you to. This way the installation will run more
smoothly.
1. Place your mobile phone according to the picture below. The infrared eye
on the phone should face the infrared eye on the computer. Make sure the
phone is switched on and that the built-in infrared eye is activated, see
“Activating and Deactivating the Infrared Modem” on page 62.
2. Your PC now establishes contact with your mobile phone.
