This document describes the evaLIGHTplus EV-1500 Personal Air Cooler, a device designed to provide a cool breeze in a personal microclimate.
Function Description
The evaLIGHTplus EV-1500 is a personal air cooler that operates on the principle of evaporative cooling. To function, it requires a well-ventilated room with a relative humidity below 70%, 1000 ml (33.8 oz) of pure water, and a 2A 5V power supply. The device cools the air by drawing in warm, dry air and passing it through a wet cartridge, which then releases cooler, humidified air. The temperature of the outgoing air starts to decrease within a few minutes of operation.
The device features a control panel with a touchable screen and a control wheel. The screen displays the temperature of incoming and outgoing air, airflow level, and menu items. The control wheel allows users to navigate through the menu and adjust various settings. The device also includes an adjustable front grill, which can be tilted up and down to adjust the airflow direction.
Key functions and settings accessible via the control panel include:
- Night Mode: Turns off LED lighting and dims the display. It can be quickly activated by double-pressing the screen.
- LED Lighting Brightness: Allows users to choose their preferred brightness level for the water reservoir lighting, with an option to turn it off (0%).
- Sleep Timer: Enables setting a timer for the fan to turn off after a specific period, ranging from 1 to 180 minutes.
- Temperature Measurement Units: Users can select between Celsius and Fahrenheit for temperature display.
- LED Lighting Color: Allows selection of a preferred color for the water reservoir lighting.
- Factory Settings: A procedure is available to restore the device to its factory settings by disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord while pressing the screen.
The device is powered by a laptop, PC, power bank, or adapter plugged into a socket, with a minimum requirement of 2A 5V.
Usage Features
To start using the evaLIGHTplus EV-1500, ensure it is placed on a flat horizontal surface.
Filling with Water:
- Slide the water reservoir up. It's important not to hold the water tank by its removable cover to prevent it from detaching.
- Open the lid and fill the reservoir with pure water. The use of any other liquids, including aromatic oils or odorous substances, is strictly prohibited.
- Place the reservoir back onto the base, ensuring it is properly installed. Water will start flowing automatically.
A full reservoir provides 3 to 8 hours of uninterrupted cooling, depending on air temperature and humidity. To extend the refill period, fill the reservoir, wait up to 10 minutes for the cartridge to absorb water, and then refill the reservoir again.
Operation:
- Once connected to a power source, the device switches on. Push the screen on top to enter the menu.
- Use the screen and control wheel to navigate and adjust airflow and other features.
- Adjust the front grills to direct the airflow.
Safety Precautions:
- The device is intended for use by persons who have been given supervision or instruction concerning its safe use. It is not intended for use by children or individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities without supervision.
- Always place the device on a smooth, horizontal surface. Tilting or turning it upside down can cause water leaks and damage.
- Only use pure water; other liquids are prohibited.
- Disconnect the device before cleaning, maintenance, removing/replacing elements, or moving it.
- Always remove the water tank from the device before filling it.
- Do not clean the device with gasoline, window-washing liquid, corrosive substances, or organic solvents.
- In case of a leak or water spills, immediately disconnect the power cord and let the device dry for at least 24 hours.
- It is strongly recommended to use the original power supply.
- Disconnect cords by holding the plugs, not by pulling the cords.
- To prevent damage, do not allow foreign objects to enter the device, place heavy items on top, submerge it in water, subject it to excessive shocks or vibrations, cover it during operation, or leave it unattended.
- Stop using the device if unusual sounds or smells are noticed.
- Do not open the upper cover or remove replaceable parts while the device is in operation.
- Do not touch the fan or block it during operation.
- Avoid touching the power supply or cord with wet hands.
- Do not place the device near heating electrical equipment, other heat sources, or naked flames.
- Do not place the device on or next to other electronic devices to prevent short circuits in case of leakage.
- Do not use the device while bathing or showering.
- Do not operate the device with a damaged cord or plug, or if it has been dropped or damaged.
Troubleshooting:
- No cold air despite wet cartridge: Check if humidity is over 70% (ventilate the room) or if the cartridge has expired (replace it).
- No cold air, dry cartridge despite full water tank: Contact support.
- Blinking airflow strength indicator, decreased airflow: Ensure the power source meets 2A 5V requirements. Contact support if the issue persists.
- Unpleasant odor: Pour a full tank of clean, distilled water and let the device dry out completely. This may need to be repeated several times.
- Water near the device: Contact a support team specialist.
Maintenance Features
Cartridge Replacement:
The cartridge typically lasts 3-6 months, depending on usage and storage conditions. Poor water quality can reduce its lifespan.
- Disconnect the device from the power source.
- Slide the reservoir up to remove it.
- Lift the upper part of the body with both hands, pushing on both sides of its base to release locks, then slide it upwards.
- Unlock and move the control unit upward and to the side.
- Lift out the old cartridge.
- Place a new cartridge in its position.
- Reassemble the device, ensuring the control unit is locked and the housing top fits into the slots.
Important: Use only a cartridge designed for the EV-1500 model; the EV-1000 cartridge is incompatible.
Cleaning:
The cleaning frequency depends on the dust level in the environment. The front grill and internal area can be wiped with a soft cloth.
A cleaning procedure should be performed when:
- The device is completely dry.
- The device is unplugged.
- The cartridge is extracted.
Note: Do not wipe the inside of the cartridge; clean only its outer plastic body.
Storage During Long Periods of No Usage (more than 5 days):
- Dry the device completely (as described below).
- Clean the device.
- Place the device in an appropriately sized package (original packaging is recommended).
- Store the device in a dry space at room temperature.
Drying the Device:
Before cleaning, storage, or long-distance transportation, it is strongly recommended to dry the device completely. Empty the water tank and run the device on maximum fan speed for at least 4-5 hours to dry out the internal reservoir section.
Transportation:
- Before any transportation, disconnect the device from the power source.
- Do not transport the device long distances with a wet cartridge. Refer to the "Storage during long periods of no usage" section.
- For shorter distances, ensure that the device with a wet cartridge is not isolated in a box or bag without airflow.
