Why is my Even Embers SMK2028AS Grill not getting hot enough?

  There are several reasons why your Even Embers Grill might not be reaching the desired temperature. First, make sure that the temperature control is properly adjusted to a higher setting. Opening the grill door too often lets heat escape, slowing down the cooking. Ensure the pellet hopper is filled with pellets, and allow up to 7 minutes for them to move to the fire pot. If the fire goes out on the 'SMOKE' setting, there might be excess ash. Remove any unburned pellets and ash from inside and around the fire pot, ensuring the grill is cold before cleaning.

  If the electric element on your Even Embers Grill isn't heating up, start by checking that the 3-wire plug is fully inserted into a grounded GFCI outlet wired for 120 volts. Also, inspect the outlet's breakers or fuses to ensure they haven't tripped or blown. Verify the GFCI outlet hasn't been tripped and reset it if needed. Note that the electric element heats up (becomes red) only during the first 5 minutes after the power switch is turned on. If a fuse is blown, replace it with a 5mm x 20 mm, 5 amps fuse.

  Smoke coming out of the smoker box of your Even Embers Grill is normal. This is due to the air pressure inside the smoker, and the amount of smoke can vary based on cooking conditions. This will not affect cooking.
