This product is mainly used in solar water heater equipment, the use of
the temperature difference and temperature to control the output.
This product has three output controls. One way to control the temper-
ature difference between the two temperature zones. When the temperature
difference reaches the set value, the water pump cycle is automatically
operated to balance the temperature in the two temperature zones. The second
way controls electric heating. When the solar heating fails to exceed the
heating temperature difference of the set temperature, the electric heating
system automatically starts heating to the set temperature and automatically
thermostats within the temperature difference control range. The third way to
control the water valve, automatically add water and automatically stop adding
water when there is water shortage.

Overview

This document describes the EW-802 Microcomputer Thermostat, primarily designed for solar water heater equipment. It utilizes temperature difference and absolute temperature to control its outputs.

The device features three output controls. The first controls the temperature difference between two temperature zones. When the temperature difference reaches a preset value, a water pump cycle automatically operates to balance the temperature in these zones. The second control manages electric heating. If solar heating fails to achieve the set heating temperature difference, the electric heating system automatically activates, heating to the set temperature and maintaining it within a defined temperature difference range. The third control manages a water valve, automatically adding water and stopping when the water level is sufficient.

Controlling Procedure

To set the low temperature zone temperature, press the set button. The display will show the current low temperature zone temperature. Use the up or down arrows to adjust the controlling temperature. If no key is pressed for six seconds, the device will automatically save the settings.

For parameter setting, hold the set and up buttons for six seconds to enter the setup menu. The corresponding indicator will flash. Press the set button repeatedly to cycle through the functions. Use the up or down arrows to change the parameters for each function. After six seconds of inactivity, the device will automatically save the settings.

Start-up Temperature Difference

The device monitors two temperature sensors. If the temperature difference between the two zones exceeds the set start-up temperature difference, the circulation pump relay activates. The temperature difference setting range for the pump is from 1°C (pump stopped + 1°C) to 50°C.

Temperature Difference for Pump Stop

The circulation pump stops when the temperature difference between the two sensors falls below this set value. The range for this setting is from 1°C to (started temperature difference - 1°C). If the pump stop difference is set to "0", the circulation pump will not stop once activated.

Heating Temperature Difference

The high temperature zone temperature must be higher than the set heating temperature difference. If it is equal to or less than this value, the heating control automatically starts. The heating temperature range is from 0°C to 20°C.

Temperature Difference for Heating Stop

When the set temperature is reached, heating stops. Electric heating restarts if the temperature drops below the set difference. The temperature hysteresis setting range is from 1°C to 20°C.

High Temperature Zone Temperature Correction

If the thermostat detects an error between the high temperature zone temperature and the actual value, this feature allows for correction. The correction range is from -10°C to 10°C.

Low Temperature Zone Temperature Correction

Similarly, if the thermostat detects an error between the low temperature zone temperature and the actual value, this feature can be corrected. The correction range is from -10°C to 10°C.

Usage Features

  • Heating: The "heating" relay activates and the "heating indicator" illuminates when the high temperature zone temperature is less than the low temperature zone set temperature plus the heating temperature difference, AND the low temperature zone temperature is less than the low temperature zone set temperature minus the temperature difference.
  • Stop Heating: The "heating" relay turns off and the "heating indicator" turns off when the low temperature zone temperature is greater than or equal to the low temperature set temperature, OR the high temperature zone temperature is greater than the low temperature set temperature plus the heating temperature difference.
  • Pump Operation: The "pump" relay activates and the "pump indicator light" illuminates when the high temperature zone temperature minus the low temperature zone temperature is greater than or equal to the set start-up temperature difference.
  • Pump Stop: The "water pump" relay turns off and the "water pump indicator" turns off when the high temperature zone temperature minus the low temperature zone temperature is less than or equal to the set stop pump temperature difference.
  • Automatic Watering: The "watering valve" relay closes, and the "LL" symbol and "low temperature zone temperature" display alternately when the water level is below the "low water level detection" position. The "watering valve indicator" illuminates.
  • Stop Adding Water: The "watering valve" relay turns off and the "watering valve indicator" turns off when the water level is higher than the "high water level detection" position. If water level detection is not required, the high and low water level detection and the water level common port can be shorted together.

Sensor Error Self-Test Function

  • "EH" Display: The "EH" symbol is displayed when the high temperature zone sensor is open. In this state, the "heating" relay is disconnected, while the "pump" relay is energized, and the "pump" indicator is illuminated.
  • "EL" Display: The "EL" symbol is displayed when the low temperature zone sensor is open. Similar to "EH", the "heating" relay is disconnected, while the "pump" relay is energized, and the "pump" indicator is illuminated.
  • "LL" Display: When the water level is lower than the low water level value, the "LL" symbol is displayed alternately with the low temperature zone temperature. The "watering valve" relay is activated to add water, while the "heating" relay and the "water pump" relay are disconnected.

Maintenance Features

Troubleshooting Guide:

  • No display when power is on:
    • Cause: Power is broken or the thermostat has failed.
    • Precaution: Check power supply and change fuse. Verify the input voltage is correct or replace the thermostat with a new one from the distributor.
  • Displaying but machine doesn't work:
    • Cause: The setting temperature is lower than the present temperature, or the heat protector's circuit is open due to overload.
    • Precaution: Reset the controlling temperature. Investigate reasons for overload/overheating. After resolving the issue, restart the device.
  • Displayed temperature is unstable or there exists misplay:
    • Cause: The sensor is interfered, wiring is poor, bundled with other power cords, or line damage.
    • Precaution: Separate sensor wiring from power cables. Use shielded lines or check if the contact is tight.
  • Measurement error between current temperature and displayed:
    • Cause: Sensor installation position is incorrect, sensor wiring is too long and its resistance is too high, wiring is poor, or the sensor is damaged.
    • Precaution: Correct all sensors' locations. Enlarge the cross-section of extended wires. Ensure wires are properly sealed or change the sensor.
  • Machine does not stop when the temperature reaches:
    • Cause: Sensor is not correctly installed and cannot measure the correct temperature. Compressor contactor fails.
    • Precaution: Check if the sensor accurately measures temperature. Change compressor contactor.
  • Relay work with overload:
    • Cause: Return difference value is too small or the setting for pressure protection is incorrect.
    • Precaution: Reset and enlarge return difference value. Adjust setting for pressure protection.
  • "EH" or "EL" is displayed:
    • Cause: The sensor is opened or short-circuited.
    • Precaution: Check if the sensor wiring has good contact with the coupling end.

Installation Demands:

  1. The voltage must match the controller's demand, with a deviation of no more than ±10%.
  2. The sensor loop should be kept away from the power loop.
  3. Differentiate sensors, power lines, and output relays.

Warnings:

  • Read the instructions carefully and connect input/output plugs of power and sensors to the corresponding sockets strictly according to the connection diagram. Incorrect wiring can affect usage and operations. Double-check for mistakes. Tighten all screw connections before powering on.
  • Keep the product away from moisture, corrosive air, and high magnetic fields to ensure normal operation.
  • All products undergo strict quality inspections before leaving the factory. A one-year quality guarantee is provided, limited to the product itself, and does not cover other joint and several liabilities.
  • For any questions or problems regarding the electronic temperature or humidity controller, contact distributors for high-quality after-sale services.
