This document describes the EW-986B Microcomputer Thermostat, an intelligent control system designed for high-temperature and heating industries.

Function Description

The EW-986B is a thermostat that controls heating systems based on a set temperature and various parameters. It features a digital display for current temperature and various settings.

Controlling Procedure:

1. Temperature Setting:

   • Press the set button gently to display the controlling temperature.
   • Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to change the controlling temperature.

2. Parameter Setting:

   • Press the set button for 6 seconds to enter parameter setting mode (a "d" will be displayed).
   • Use the ▲ or ▼ buttons to adjust the following parameters:
     • LS (Lowest Temperature Limit): Press set, then ▲ or ▼ simultaneously. Choose a limit between 0°C and (control temperature - 1°C). The ex-factory value is 0°C.
     • HS (Highest Temperature Limit): Press set, then ▲ or ▼ simultaneously. Choose a limit between (control temperature + 1°C) and 400°C. The ex-factory value is 400°C.
     • PE (Delayed Start Time): Press set, then ▲ or ▼ simultaneously. Set the delayed start time from 0 to 3 minutes. The ex-factory value is 1 minute.
     • CA (Temperature Correction): Press set, then ▲ or ▼ simultaneously. Set temperature correction from -15°C to 15°C. The ex-factory value is 00°C.
     • d (Temperature Return Difference): Hold set, then press ▲ or ▼ simultaneously. Set the return difference from 1°C to 15°C. The ex-factory value is 5°C.

Usage Features:

• Heating System Operation:
  • The heating system activates when the current temperature falls below the set temperature minus the temperature hysteresis (return difference) and after the "delay time" has elapsed. The load relay turns on.
  • The heating system stops when the current temperature reaches the set temperature. The load relay disconnects.
• Display: Normally displays the present temperature.
• LED Indicator: A loud power LED is present.
• Error Codes:
  • "EI" is displayed when the sensor is short-circuited or open-circuited.
  • "E2" is displayed when the current temperature is higher than the upper limit, and the load will be turned off.

Installation Demands:

1. The operating voltage must match the controller's demand, with a deviation of no more than ±5%.
2. The sensor loop should be kept away from the power loop.
3. Line connections must be properly sequenced.

Maintenance Features (Troubleshooting and Precautions):

• No display when power is on:
  • Cause: Power short circuit, thermostat failure.
  • Precaution: Check power supply and fuse. Verify 220V power input or change thermostat.
• Machine does not work but display exits:
  • Cause: Set temperature is higher than present temperature, heat protector open circuit due to overload.
  • Precaution: Reset controlling temperature. Check for overload/overheating. Restart after resolving issues.
• Displayed temperature is unstable or misplays:
  • Cause: Sensor wiring interfered, poorly contacted, tied with other cables, or damaged wiring.
  • Precaution: Separate sensor wiring from power cables, use shielded lines, or check contact tightness.
• Difference with temperature within storage and displayed temperature is too big:
  • Cause: Incorrect sensor location, long sensor wiring with high resistance, poor wiring contact, or sensor damage.
  • Precaution: Correct sensor locations. Enlarge cross-section of expanded wires. Ensure good wiring sealing. Change sensor.
• Machine does not stop when temperature reaches:
  • Cause: Sensor not correctly installed/measuring, compressor contactor failure.
  • Precaution: Check sensor accuracy. Change compressor contactor.
• "EI" is displayed:
  • Cause: Sensor wiring is short-circuited or open-circuited.
  • Precaution: Check for good contact with coupling end.

General Warnings:

• Read the instruction manual carefully and connect input/output plugs of power and sensor to the corresponding sockets strictly according to the connection diagram. Incorrect wiring affects usage and operations. Double-check for mistakes. Tighten all screw connections before powering on.
• Keep the product away from moisture, corrosive air, and high magnetic fields to ensure normal operation.
