1. InserttheblacktestleadbananaplugintothenegativeCOMjackandtheredtest
leadbananaplugintothepositivejack.
2. Turnthefunctionswitchtoposition.UsetheMbuttontoselectthediodefunctionif
necessary(thediodeandvoltagesymbolswillappearonthe
LCDwheninDiodetestmode).
3. Touchthetestprobetipstothediodeorsemiconductorjunctionundertest.Notethe
meterreading.
4. Reversethetestleadpolaritybyreversingtheredandblackleads.Notethisreading.
5. Thediodeorjunctioncanbeevaluatedasfollows:
 Ifonereadingdisplaysavalue(typically0.400Vto0.900V)andreversereadingdisplays
OL,thediodeisgood.
 IfbothreadingsdisplayOLthedeviceisopen.
 Ifbothreadingsareverysmallor‘0’,thedeviceisshorted.

