Do you have a question about the Finn T60S HydroSeeder and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The FINN T60S HydroSeeder is a trailer-mounted, CE-compliant machine designed for hydroseeding applications, which involves spraying a slurry of seed, fertilizer, and mulch onto the ground to establish vegetation. This process is widely used in landscaping, erosion control, and land reclamation.

Function Description

The HydroSeeder operates by mixing seed, fertilizer, and/or lime, wood fiber mulch, or stabilizing materials in a large tank to create a homogeneous slurry. This slurry is then pumped through a discharge assembly and directed onto the seedbed by an operator. The machine is designed for efficient and thorough mixing, ensuring a consistent application of materials. It features a mechanical paddle agitation system and a recirculation system to keep the slurry well-mixed and prevent clogging. The discharge system can be configured with various nozzles for different spray patterns and distances, allowing for versatile application across diverse terrains and project requirements. The machine is capable of handling highly viscous slurries, including those with BFM (Bonded Fiber Matrix), FGM (Flexible Growth Medium), and SMM (Stabilized Mulch Matrix).

Important Technical Specifications

The FINN T60S HydroSeeder is powered by a Kohler CH730, 23.5 hp (17.5 kW) engine, which is a 2-cylinder, OHV, air-cooled gas engine. It features a low oil pressure and high temperature shutoff for engine safety. The tank size is substantial, with a capacity of 600 gallons (2,270 L) liquid, and a working capacity of 500 gallons (1,890 L). The pump is a centrifugal 3 in. x 1-1/2 in. pump, capable of delivering 65 GPM (517 kPa) at 75 psi (245 LPM at 5.3 kg/cm²), with a 3/4 in. (1.9 cm) solid clearance, adjustable for various slurry types. The pump drive is a direct drive through an electrical clutch, ensuring independent operation of the agitator. The agitation system is mechanical paddle agitation with liquid recirculation, while the agitator drive is reversible, with variable speed hydraulic motor control (0 - 100 RPM) with control lever at front and rear of unit. The discharge distance can reach up to 90 ft. (27 m) from the end of the discharge tower. The maximum material capacity is 1,550 lbs. (703 kg) of granular solids and 200 - 250 lbs. (91 - 113 kg) of fiber mulch. It can be equipped with one (1) narrow fan nozzle, one (1) wide fan nozzle, and one (1) long distance nozzle. The empty weight of the unit is 2,170 lbs (985 kg), and its working weight is 7,170 lbs (3,253 kg). The machine is designed to be mounted on a truck or trailer that can carry a payload of 7,200 lb (3,266 kg).

Usage Features

The HydroSeeder offers several features that enhance its usability and operational efficiency. The control panel is designed for ease of use, with clear indicators and controls for pump operation, engine start/stop, and agitator speed. It supports various operational modes, including standard, hose reel only, platform only, and loaded unit configurations, each with specific wiring and control layouts. The starting procedure involves setting the throttle, choke control, turning the key, pushing the choke in, and allowing the engine to warm up. The hydraulic system features a toggle switch for hydraulics ON/OFF, which activates the agitators. The machine provides detailed guidance on area coverage and material capacity, with tables illustrating the amount of seed, fertilizer, and mulch needed for specific coverage areas. The loading procedure is outlined step-by-step, emphasizing safety and proper mixing techniques for different materials. The machine is equipped with a three-valve operation system (standard and hose reel only units) and a two-valve operation system (platform/boom option) to control slurry flow and recirculation. Discharge nozzle selection is crucial for effective application, with different nozzles suited for long distance, narrow fan, and wide fan applications. The application of slurry section provides guidelines on preventing clogging, maintaining proper distance from the seedbed, and ensuring even coverage.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the HydroSeeder. The manual provides a comprehensive maintenance schedule, including daily, weekly, and seasonal checks. Daily maintenance includes cleaning the HydroSeeder, checking the agitator shaft, discharge hose, and pump plugs, and lubricating various points. Weekly or every 40 hours of operation maintenance involves cleaning the engine operator's manual, lubricating all points, checking the hydraulic oil level, and inspecting the slurry tank for buildup of residue. Seasonal and winter storage maintenance includes draining the slurry tank, removing drain plugs, parking in a suitable location, covering the machine, storing hydraulic valve handles in the open position, and changing hydraulic oil and filter. Pump maintenance includes checking pump suction piping and inlet elbows, and ensuring proper impeller clearance. The manual also details procedures for cleaning the impeller and installing new seal assemblies. Lubrication and fluids charts specify the type and frequency of lubricants for various components, such as grease levels, agitator shaft bearings, engine oil, pump bearings, hydraulic fluid, fuel tank, and hose reel swivel. Troubleshooting guides are provided for common issues like leaks, machine jumps during operation, foaming of solution, and pump/valve malfunctions, offering probable causes and suggested solutions. The manual also includes a parts section with detailed diagrams and part numbers for easy identification and ordering of replacement components. Safety decals are prominently displayed throughout the manual, emphasizing critical warnings and precautions for safe operation and maintenance.
