Applying the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)
The vehicle is put into P (Park) by pressing the end of the gear selector lever.
When the vehicle is in P (Park), it will automatically apply the Electronic Parking
Brake (EPB). Shifting to P also auto applies the parklock in the front Electric Drive
Unit (EDU).
If the vehicle loses power, an external power supply is required to disengage the
Electronic Parking Brake (EPB).
The Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) will apply when the driver’s seat belt is
unfastened and the driver’s door is opened.
Note: If the gear is not in P (Park) when the driver’s seat belt is unfastened and the
driver’s door is opened, the vehicle will alert you.
When the EPB is engaged either manually or automatically, the EPB indicator
will illuminate on the instrument cluster display.
To manually release the EPB, hold the brake pedal and press the EPB switch on the
dash, to the left of the steering wheel.
The EPB also applies automatically when the vehicle power is turned Off. See
