Moving the Vehicle
Moving Off the Road
WARNING: Deactivating the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) requires pressing
the brake pedal. Once the vehicle is in N (Neutral) and the brake pedal is
released, the vehicle will be freestanding. Be aware that the vehicle could roll at this
point if it is not on a level surface.
CAUTION: Avoid pulling the vehicle with wheels on the ground, as prolonged
rolling can cause heat damage to the drive motor system and generate high
voltages in the electrical system.
If the vehicle needs to be moved a short distance but cannot be driven normally:
• Set the Gear Shift Selector to N (Neutral) to allow the wheels to roll freely. Note:
The driver must stay in the vehicle to avoid shifting out of Neutral. See Shifting Into
Neutral, page 22.
• Deactivate the Electronic Parking Brake, see Applying the Electronic Parking
Brake (EPB), page 23. If the wheels roll attach nylon straps and proceed to pull
the vehicle onto a flatbed truck, see Recovering the Vehicle From a Ditch,
page 61
• If the wheels will not roll place all 4 wheels on skates.
Using skates, dolly or wheel lift
If you are unable to shift the gear into N (Neutral), skates may be used under all 4
wheels to pull the vehicle onto a flatbed truck using nylon straps, see Recovering the
Vehicle From a Ditch, page 61. A wheel lift truck and dollies may be used for up to 10
miles. The vehicle will then need to be loaded onto a flatbed truck.
1. Chock the wheels to stop the vehicle rolling.
2. Attach the vehicle to the tow truck winch using the recovery eye. See Pulling the
Vehicle onto a Trailer or Transporter, page 59
Note: The recovery eye may only be used if the vehicle wheels will roll and the
vehicle is being loaded directly onto a flatbed truck. If the wheels will not roll - then
nylon straps will need to be used along with skates under all 4 wheels.
