While your vehicle is in motion, the combination lap and
shoulder belt adjusts
to
your movement. However,
if
you brake
hard, corner hard or
if
your vehicle receives an impact, the lap
and shoulder belt locks and prevents you from moving.
To
fasten the belt, pull the lap/shoulder belt from the extractor
so that the shoulder portion
of
the belt crosses your shoulder
and chest. Insert the belt tongue into the proper buckle until
you hear a snap and feel it latch.
To tighten the lap portion
of
the belt, pull up on the shoulder
belt until
it
fits you snugly. The belt should rest as low on your
hips as possible.
A longer lap and shoulder belt assembly is available and is a
direct replacement for the driver and front passenger positions.
The longer lap and shoulder belt is made and tested
to
the
same standards as the original belt. This belt assembly can be
purchased and installed at any authorized Fleetwood motor
home dealer.
Check your safety belt system periodically to make sure that it
works properly and isn't damaged.
If
the webbing shows any
wear, nicks or cuts, have it examined by a qualified technician
to determine
if
replacement is necessary. Always have your
safety belt system checked after a collision.
In most states, you are required by law
to
use safety restraints
ifor
children.
If
small children (less than four years old, and
;under 40 pounds) ride in your vehicle, you must put them in
Isafety seats that are made specially for children. Safety belts
!alone do not provide maximum protection for these children.
'Check your local and state laws for specific requirements.
