5Operation
5.1Powerthemeter
1. PullandholdthetriggerforonesecondtoswitchthemeterONandbeginscanning
surfacetemperatures.
2. TheTGSeriesispoweredbythree(3)1.5V‘AAA’batteries.Batteriesarelocatedinthe
meter(twistoffthehandlecaptoreleasethebatteryholder).RefertoSection7,
Maintenance,formoredetail.
3. The
Batterystatusicon isshownontheupperrightsideofthedisplay.Thestatusicon
showsfullwhitewhen100%poweredanddarkensasbatterypowerweakens.The
batterystatusiconappearsempty(fullydark)whenthebatteriesrequirechanging.Note
thattemperaturereadingsdisplayedwhilethebatterysymbolisemptywill
beaccurate.
AccuracyisassuredupuntilthemeterswitchesOFF.
4. TheTGSerieshasaprogrammableAPO(AutoPowerOFF)featurewhereitautomatically
shutsoffafterthetriggerisreleased(after5,10,or20seconds).PleaserefertoSection6,
ProgrammingMenu,forinstructionsonsettingtheAPOtime.
5.2TakingMeasurements
1. Beginbypullingandholdingthetriggerforonesecond.
2. Whileholdingthetrigger,scanthesurface(s)undertest.UsetheLaserpointerasaguide.
Noticethatwhilethetriggerispulledthedisplayshowsthescanningicon
andlaser
pointericon .
3. Viewthetemperaturereadingandotherinformationonthedisplaywhilescanning.Ifthe
measurementexceedsthepublishedrange,thedisplaywillindicate‘OL’.ReadSection
4.4,MainDisplayDescriptions,andSection4.5,DisplayIconDescriptions,forreference.
4. Tosetthetemperatureunits(

F)pleaserefertoSection6,ProgrammingMenu.
5. Whenthetriggerisreleased,thescanningandlasericonsarereplacedbythe
