Do you have a question about the FLORABEST 280236 and is the answer not in the manual?
This document describes the Florabest 2-IN-1 Long-Reach Hedge Trimmer/Pruner FHEHS 900 B2, a versatile electric power tool designed for domestic use in cutting and trimming hedges, bushes, flowering shrubs, and branches in trees. It features an integrated motor unit with linear reciprocating cutting blades for the hedge trimmer and a saw chain for the pole pruner.
The device combines two main functions: a long-reach hedge trimmer and a pole pruner. The motor unit (1) serves as the power source for both attachments. The hedge trimmer attachment (FHS 2) is designed for cutting and trimming hedges and shrubs, while the pole pruner attachment (FHE 2) is used for trimming branches in trees.
Motor Unit (1): This is the core power component, featuring a tommy screw (1), nut (2), boom (3), screw (4), round handle (5), carrying lug (6), turning element (7), release button (8), safety lock-out (9), on/off switch (10), power cable (11), and strain relief (12). The round handle (5) can be adjusted to the desired position on the boom (3) and secured with the screw (4). A quick-release mechanism with a carabiner and red strap allows for quick detachment of the appliance. The shoulder strap (47) attaches to the carrying lug (6) and should be adjusted so the lug is at hip height.
Hedge Trimmer Attachment (FHS 2): This attachment consists of a cutter bar (13), gear housing (14), lock/release (15), base plate (hedge trimmer) (16), control lever (17), handle (18), front boom (19), locking pin (20), drive shaft (21), and protective cap (22). The hedge trimmer is assembled by pushing its front boom (19) onto the motor unit's boom (3), ensuring the locking pin (20) engages, and then securing the two booms with the tommy screw (1) and nut (2). The hedge trimmer can be swiveled by triggering the lock/release (15), pressing the control lever (17), and moving it to the desired position until the control lever (17) and lock/release (15) click into the recess in the base plate (16).
Pole Pruner Attachment (FHE 2): This attachment includes a bench grinder support (23), saw chain (24), blade (25), stop (26), oil tank (27), nut (28), thread (29), sprocket cover (30), blade hole (31), blade guide (32), guide rail (33), oil dispenser (34), chain adjuster screw (35), chain sprocket (36), chain roll pin (37), front boom (38), drive shaft (39), protective cap (40), locking pin (41), safety ring (42), control lever (43), base plate (pole pruner) (44), lock/release (45), and oil filler cap (46). The pole pruner is assembled similarly to the hedge trimmer, by pushing its front boom (38) onto the motor unit's boom (3), ensuring the locking pin (41) engages, and securing the booms with the tommy screw (1) and nut (2). The pole pruner can be swiveled by releasing the lock/release (45), pressing the control lever (43), and moving it to the desired position until the control lever (43) and lock/release (45) click into the recess in the base plate (44).

The device is designed for two-handed operation. Users must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including ear protection, safety shoes, hard hat, protective goggles, and gloves. A shoulder strap (47) is provided to distribute the weight evenly.
Switching On/Off: To switch on, connect the power cable (11) to an extension cable, form a loop at the end of the extension cable and attach it to the strain relief (12), then press and hold the safety lock-out (9) and press the On/Off switch (10). To switch off, release the On/Off switch (10), remove the extension cable from the strain relief (12), and disconnect the power cable (11) from the extension cable.
Hedge Trimmer Operation: The hedge trimmer is suitable for cutting and trimming hedges, bushes, and flowering shrubs. Thicker branches should be removed with a branch cutter. Cutting techniques involve working at an angle of 60° ±10°.
Pole Pruner Operation: The pole pruner is used for trimming branches in trees. The stop (26) should be placed against the branch for safer and quieter operation. Small branches (Ø 0-8 cm) should be sawn from top down. For larger branches (Ø 8-25 cm), a relief cut (A) should be made first to prevent bark peeling, then the branch should be sawn from top (B) to bottom (A). Long or thick branches should be shortened in sections before the final cut.
Regular maintenance is crucial for the device's safety and longevity.
Saw Chain and Blade Assembly/Tensioning: Protective gloves must be worn due to sharp cutting teeth. The blade (25) and saw chain (24) are pre-assembled. The blade (25) can be turned depending on wear. To mount or tension the saw chain, the nut (28) is loosened with the assembly tool (51), the sprocket cover (30) is removed, and the chain adjuster screw (35) is used to adjust tension. The saw chain (24) should lie against the underside of the blade (25) and be manually movable. A new saw chain (24) will stretch and require more frequent tensioning.
Chain Lubrication: The oil tank (27) should be filled with approximately 100 ml of organic chain oil (50) after removing the oil filler cap (46). It is critical to never operate the saw without chain lubrication, as dry operation can irreparably damage the cutting equipment. The automatic chain lubrication system should be checked before and during work.
Saw Chain Sharpening: A bench grinder can be attached to the bench grinder support (23) for secure sharpening. Detailed information on sharpening can be found in a sharpening set (e.g., from Oregon) or by using an electric saw chain sharpening device according to the manufacturer's instructions. If unsure, the saw chain should be replaced.
General Maintenance: The motor unit should always be kept clean, dry, and free from oil or grease. The pole pruner should be cleaned of sawdust regularly. The housing can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. The sprocket cover (30) should be removed, and the saw chain (24) and guide rail (33) cleaned. The saw chain (24) must be kept sharp, and its tension and oil supply checked. The hedge trimmer's cutter bar (13) should be checked for loose screws and tightened if necessary. Stuck cuttings should be removed, and the cutter bar (13) maintained with oil spray or an oil can.
Storage: Before storage, the device should be thoroughly cleaned. It should be stored in the supplied protective cases (48, 49) in a dry, frost-free place, out of reach of children, and secured against falling. The oil tank (27) should be emptied, as organic chain oil (50) can resinify or leak through the vent hole in the oil filler cap (46).
