  If your Flotec Water Pump won't start or run, begin by ensuring it's properly plugged into an outlet. If the pump is plugged in, check the fuse and replace it with the correct size if it's blown. Also, inspect the wiring from the main switch for low voltage, and contact the power company if needed. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the motor or float switch might be defective and need replacement. Finally, check the impeller for any obstructions and remove them, or clear any obstructions to the float.

Why is my Flotec Water Pump running but not pumping water?

  If your Flotec Water Pump operates but delivers little or no water, first check the line voltage and consult with the power company if it's too low. Then, remove the pump and clean out the impeller and intake screen to remove any obstructions. If the impeller is worn, defective, or plugged, clean it or replace the pump. Ensure the check valve has a vent hole and is installed correctly. Drill a 1/16” - 1/8” (1.6mm-3.2mm) dia. hole between pump discharge & check valve (1-2” above where the discharge pipe screws into the pump discharge and below the waterline).

  If your Flotec Water Pump won't shut off, the float switch may be defective and require replacement. Another potential cause is a restricted discharge due to an obstacle or ice in the piping, so remove the pump and clean both the pump and the piping. Also, check for any obstructions to the float and remove them. Lastly, a restricted intake screen could be the culprit, so remove the pump and clean the intake screen and the impeller.

  If your Flotec Water Pump starts and stops too often, it could be due to backflow of water from the piping. To resolve this, install or replace the check-valve. Alternatively, a faulty float switch might be the cause, in which case you should replace the float switch.
