Fluid Levels
With Ihe tractor on level ground check the following fluid levels at every 10
hours
up to 50
hours
and then at the intervals recommended.
If
necessary
add
oil of the correct specification, see Section I.
(a) Sump: The level should reach the upper mark on the dipstick. Allow
1 5 minutes
for
a hot engine to cool before making
a
chock,
(b)
Transmission: The level should
reach the
level plug
hole (dipstick mark
on Ford 5000).
(c) Rear Axle: With the hydraulic lift arms raised and with external
equip-
ment ram cylinders fully extended the level should reach
the level plug
hole.
(d) Power Assisted Steering : With the engine stopped and the wheels in the
straight ahead position the level should reach the bottom of the filler neck.
F2. Bowl Pre-Cleaner (where fitted)
Remove
the bowl and
clean
thoroughly. Never allow the dirt to accumulate
above the
level
mark on the bowl and service more frequently in extremely
dusty conditions.
F3- Air Cleaner (oil
bath type)
Remove the radiator chaff screen, loosen the air cleaner bowl thumbscrew
and
check the oil and dirt level in
both cups.
Drain
the oil and clean the cups if the
dirt
level is more than
0-25
inch (6 mm) high. Refill both cups to the properlevel.
Do not overfill.
Under conditions of extreme dust or chaff, service
the two
bowls twice
daily.
F4. Radiator
Coolant Level
Check the coolant level in tho radiator
and top up if necessary. Remove the cap
slowly if the cooling system
is hot. If the radiator contains antifreeze top up
with
antifreeze solution of the correct strength.
F5. Rear Wheel Nuts
During the first 50 hours of operation the rear wheel nuts should
be
checked
for tightness.
