Your notebook has several security fea tures that you can use to secure your
system from unau thorised access.
This chapter explains how to use e ach function, and what the benefits are.
Please remember tha t in some cases, for example, forgetting your password,
you may be locked o ut and unable to access your data. Therefore,
please note th e following information:
• Make r egular backups to external data carriers such as external hard
drives, C Ds, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
• Some security functio

ep them in a safe place.
If you fo rget your passwords you will need to contact the our Service
Desk. Deletion or resetting of passwords is not covered by your warranty
and a c harge will be made for assistance.
Use Kensington Lock
Your device comes with a Kensington Lock dev ice for th e Kensington MicroSaver. With
the Kensington MicroSaver, a sturdy steel cable, you can he lp protect your notebook from
theft. The Kensington MicroSaver is available as an accessory.

Configuring password protection in BIOS Setup Utility
Before using the various options for password protection in the BIOS Setup utility
to increase data security, please ob serve the following:
Make a note of the passwords a nd keep them in a safe pla ce. If you forget your
supervisor password you will not be able to access your n otebook. Passwords are
not covered by your warranty and a charge will be made for assistance.

tinction is made between uppercase and lowercase.
