RNG+ and RNG- Buttons
Press the RNG+ and RNG- buttons to set the range. The range can be set to 5, 10, 20 or
40 nautical miles (nm). Press the RNG+ or the RNG- button to show the current setting.
Press RNG+ to increment or RNG- to decrement the range setting.
Mode Select Knob
This knob is used to set the unit to one of the following seven modes:
STBY
In the STBY(standby) mode, both Mode-S transponders are in the standby mode. In
this mode there are no replies and interrogations. The TCAS system is OFF.
Altitude reporting is also OFF.
ALT OFF
In the ALT OFF (altitude reporting off) mode, there is no altitude reporting for
either transponder. The selected transponder (1 or 2) is active. The non-selected
transponder is in standby. The TCAS function is OFF.
XPNDR
In the XPNDR (transponder) position, the selected transponder and altitude
reporting are active. The TCAS system is OFF.
TA
In the TA (traffic advisories) position, the TCAS system is ON. Traffic advisories
are allowed. There are no Resolution Advisories in this mode. The Altitude Display
Mode is set to Normal (N) and the TCAS system will only display and provide
traffic information for targets located between 2700 feet above and 2700 feet below
your aircraft (+2700 ft and -2700 ft relative to your aircraft).
TA/RA
In the TA/RA (traffic advisories/resolution advisories) position, the TCAS system
is ON. Both Traffic and Resolution advisories are allowed. The Altitude Display
Mode is set to Normal (N) and the TCAS system will only display and provide
traffic information for targets located between 2700 feet above and 2700 feet below
your aircraft (+2700 ft and -2700 ft relative to your aircraft).
