      Kyle ThompsonSep 2, 2025

      Courtney RogersSep 3, 2025
A strong odor from the insulation around the inside of your GE Ranges oven is normal for the first few times the oven is used. This is temporary and will go away after several uses or a self-clean cycle.

Why does my GE JB745 Ranges oven sometimes takes longer to preheat to the same temperature?
    • D
      davidphamSep 3, 2025
Cookware or food in the oven will cause the oven to take longer to preheat. Remove items to reduce preheat time. Adding more racks to the oven will also cause the oven to take longer to preheat, so remove some racks. The different cooking modes use different preheat methods to heat the oven for the specific cooking mode, so some modes will take longer than others (i.e. convection bake).

Why is there steam from the vent of GE Ranges?
    • J
      Jessica HartSep 4, 2025
When using the ovens, it is normal to see steam coming out of the oven vents. As the number of racks or amount of food being cooked increases, the amount of visible steam will increase.

Why does the display on my GE Ranges go blank?
    • S
      Sean Murphy DVMSep 5, 2025
A blank display on your GE Ranges could be due to a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker; replace the fuse or reset the breaker. The clock might be turned off; check the Special Features section. Also, verify that the oven is not in Sabbath Mode, referring to the Special Features section for instructions.

How to make GE JB745 surface units maintain a rolling boil?
    • R
      Ray JensenSep 5, 2025
If your GE Ranges surface units aren't maintaining a rolling boil or cooking isn't fast enough, make sure you're using flat-bottomed pans that match the diameter of the surface unit. If the power (voltage) in your area is low, cover the pan with a lid to help retain heat until the desired temperature is reached.

Why is my GE JB745 Ranges oven not clean after a clean cycle?
    • S
      Shaun JonesSep 6, 2025
If your GE Ranges oven isn't clean after running a clean cycle, first ensure the oven controls were properly set. See the Cleaning the Oven section. It's also possible the oven was heavily soiled; clean up significant spills before starting the clean cycle. Heavily soiled ovens may require a second self-clean or a longer cleaning time.
