ofelectricshockbyprovidingan
escapewirefortheelectriccurrent.
Thisapplianceisequippedwitha
powercord havinga grounding
wire with a groundingplug.The
plugmust be pluggedintoan outlet
thatis properly installedand
grounded. (Fig. 1)

Becauseofpotentialsafetyhazmxis

two-prongwallreceptaclebythe
useof a UL listedadapter(Fig.2)
which isavailableatmostlocal
hardwarestores.

The larger slot in the adapter must
be aligned with the largerslotinthe
wallreceptacle to provideproper
polarity in the connection ofthe
powercord.
Caution:Attachingtheadapter
groundterminaltothewall
receptaclecoverscrewdoesnot
groundtheapplianceunlessthe
coverscrewismetal,andnot
insulated.
and the wallreceptacle
isgrounded through t]lehouse
wiring. Youshould havethecircuit
checked bya qualit’icdelectrician
to make sure the receptacle is
properly groumic(i.
Usagesituationswhere
appliance’spowercordwill
bedisconnectedfrequently.
Do notuse an adapterplug
inthese situationsbecause
disconnectingofthe powercord
placesunduestrainon theadapter
and leadsto eventualfailureofthe
adapterground terminal. You
shouldhavethe two-prongwall
receptaclereplaced with a three-
prong(grounding)receptacleby
a qualifiedelectrician before
usingtheappliance.
UseofExtensionCords
Becauseofpotentialsafetyhazards
undercertainconditionswestrongly
recommendagainstthe use of an
extensioncord, However,if itis
necessary to use anextensioncord,
use onlya 3-wireextensioncord
that has a 3-blade groundingplug,
and a 3-slotreceptacle that will
acceptthe plug onthe appliance.
The marked ratingof the extension
cord shallbe equalto or greater
than the electrical ratingof the
appliance(15amperes).
Such extensioncords are obtainable
through General Electric service.
If youdousean extensioncord
with
your microwave/convection
oven, the interior lightmay flicker
and theblower soundmay vary
when ovenis inuse. Cook and
defrosttimes may be longer aswell.
