[] ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
Electrical Requirements
120-volt, 60 Hertz, properly grounded dedicated drcuit
protected by a 1B-amp or 20-amp circuit breaker or time
delay fl/se.
Extension Cord Cautions
Because of potential safer) ha/_n'ds associated with certain
conditions, _e strongly recommend against tile use of
an extension cord. Howevei, if you still elect to use all
extension cord, it is absoluteN necessalw that it be a
lJiAisted, 3-wire gTotmding-t}pe appliance extension cord
and that tile cmTent carr}ing rating of the cord in amperes
be equivldent to, or greater than, the circtfit lating.
Grounding
IMPORTANT (Please read carefully)
FOR PERSONAL SAFETY, THIS APPLIANCE MUST
BE PROPERLY GROUNDED.
PreferredMethod
E_lsureproper ground
exists before use
Tile power cord of this appliance is equipped with a
3-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a standard
3-prong gunmding wall receptacle to minimize tile
possibility oI electric shock ha/ard fi'om this appliance.
The customer should have the wall receptacle and drcuit
checked by a qualified electridan to make sure the
receptacle is propedy grounded.
Where a smndaid 2-prong wall receptacle is encountered,
it is the pel_onal responsibility and obligation (ff die
customer to haw it replaced with a properly grounded
3-prong wall receptacle.
DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCFN, CUT OR
REMOVE THE THIRD (GROUND) PRONG FROM
THE POWER CORD.
A word about GFCI's--GFCI's axe not required or
recommended for gas range receptacles.
(;round Emit Circuit lnterruptel_ (GFCI's) are devices
that sense leakage of current ill a circuit and automatically
switch off power when a threshold leakage level is
detected. These devices must be manually reset by the
consumei: Tile National Electrical Code requires tile
use of GFCI's ill kitchen receptacles installed to serve
countertop smii_ces. Perfbmmnce of tile range will not
be aflbcted ht opeiated on a GFCl-protected drcuit
but occasional nuisance till)ping of tile GFCI breaker
is possible.

A. Usage Situations where Applimlce Power Cord will be
Discomlected Infrequently,
An adapter may be used only on a 15-amp circuit. Do not
use an adapter on a 20-amp circuit. _,\]_ere local codes
pemfit, a TEMPORARY CONNECTION may be made
to a propedy grounded two-prong wall receptacle by tile
use of a UIAismd adaptei; a\uilable at most hardware
stores. The laiger slot in the adapter must be aligned
with tile laiger slot in the wall receptacle to provide
proper polaris," in tile com_ection of tile power cord.
TemporaryMethod
(Adapter plugs not permitted in Canada)
Align large prongs/slots
Ensure proper ground
and firm connection
before use
CAUTION: Atta,l/i.gtheadaptei"gi'.m,d
temfinal m tile _11 receptacle cover screw does not
grotmd the appliance unless the cover screw is metal,
and not insulated, and the wall receptacle is grounded
through the house wiring. The customer should have
tile circuit checked b)' a qualified electrician to make
sure the receptacle is properly grounded.
\,_]/en disconnecting tile power cord fl'om tile adapteI;
always hold tile adapter with one hand. If this is not
done, tile adaptor ground tem/inal is very likely to break
with repeated use. Should this hal)pen, DO NOT USE
tile appliance until a proper ground has again been
established.
