Why does my new GE Ranges oven doesn't cook like my old one?
    • J
      Jason VillarrealSep 22, 2025
Your new oven has a different cooking system and may cook differently than your old one. For the first few uses, carefully follow recipe times and temperatures. If you still think your new oven is too hot or cold, you can adjust the temperature yourself by following the steps in Special Features to meet your specific cooking preference.

Why are there scratches on the cooktop glass surface of my GE JS660SLSS Ranges?
    • S
      Sarah DavisSep 23, 2025
Scratches are not removable. Tiny scratches will become less visible over time with cleaning. To prevent scratches, use recommended cleaning procedures and ensure cookware bottoms are clean and smooth before use. Avoid sliding cookware across the cooktop surface.

Why are there areas of discoloration on the cooktop of my GE JS660SLSS Ranges?
    • M
      Matthew MartinSep 23, 2025
For food spillovers not cleaned before the next use, see the Cleaning the glass cooktop section. For hot surfaces on a model with a light-colored cooktop, this is normal. The surface may appear discolored when it is hot, but this is temporary and will disappear as the glass cools.

    Why won't my GE JS660SLSS oven self-clean?
    • J
      Jasmine BradleySep 23, 2025
If your GE Ranges oven will not self-clean, it could be due to a few reasons. If the temperature is too high, allow the oven to cool down and then reset the controls. Make sure the oven controls are properly set by referring to the Cleaning the Oven section. Also, ensure that the oven door is completely closed and locked.

Why does my new GE Ranges smell like burning?
    • M
      Michael ChambersSep 23, 2025
If you notice a “burning” or “oily” odor emitting from the vent of your new GE Ranges, this is normal and will disappear over time. To speed up the process, set a self-clean cycle for a minimum of 3 hours. See the Cleaning the Oven section for instructions.

Why does my GE JS660SLSS Ranges have a strong odor?
    • R
      Ryan HobbsSep 23, 2025
If you notice a strong odor when using your GE Ranges for the first few times, it's normal. This odor comes from the insulation around the inside of the oven and will go away after several uses or a self-clean cycle.

Why does my GE JS660SLSS take so long to preheat?
    • R
      Robert JohnsonSep 23, 2025
If your GE Ranges oven sometimes takes longer to preheat to the same temperature, it could be due to cookware or food in the oven. Remove these items to reduce preheat time. Also, the number of racks in the oven can affect preheating time, so remove some racks if necessary.

      Kristi MckinneySep 23, 2025

Why does my GE JS660SLSS Ranges signal after setting the time?
    • D
      Debra NelsonSep 23, 2025
When you get control signals after entering cooking time or start time on your GE Ranges, it means you forgot to enter a bake temperature or cleaning time. Touch the Bake pad and the desired temperature, or the Self Clean pad and the desired clean time.

How to make oven racks slide easier in GE JS660SLSS Ranges?
    • K
      Kathy HancockSep 23, 2025
If the oven racks in your GE Ranges are difficult to slide, and they are shiny, silver-colored racks that were cleaned in a self-clean cycle, apply a small amount of vegetable oil to a paper towel and wipe the edges of the oven racks with the paper towel. Do not use Pam® or other lubricant sprays.
