3.Wipethecablesandleadwireswithadry,cleanclothorpapertowelandlet
themairdry.
DisinfectingtheCablesandLeadwires
Usethefollowingproceduretodisinfectthecablesandleadwires:
1.Cleananddrythecablesandleadwiresbeforedisinfectingthem.

2.Wipethecablesandleadwireswithasoft,lint-freecloththatismoistenedwith
anappropriatedisinfectant.
Usethefollowingsolutions,asrecommendedinAPICGuidelinesforSelection
andUseofDisinfectants(1996):
•Sodiumhypochlorite(5.2%householdbleach)minimum1:500dilution
(minimum100ppmfreechlorine)andmaximum1:10dilution.
•Anysodiumhypochloritewipeproductthatmeetsthepreviousguidelines.
3.Drythecablesandleadwireswithacleanclothorpapertowelandletthem
airdryforatleast30minutes.
NOTE:
•Dryingtimesvarybasedontheenvironmentalconditions.
•DONOTuseexcessivedryingtechniques,suchasovens,forcedheat,or
sundrying.
StoringCablesandLeadwires
Toensurethatthecablesandleadwiresareinproperworkingorder,usethefollowing
guidelinestostorethemwhennotinuse:
•Storecablesandleadwiresinadry,well-ventilatedarea.
•Hangcablesandleadwiresvertically
•DoNOTcoilcablesorleadwiresaroundthedevice.
