CleaningandDisinfectingReusableElectrodes
Usethefollowingproceduretocleananddisinfectthereusableelectrodes:
1.Usewarmwaterandasmallbrushtoremoveanycreamorgelfromthe
electrode.
Donotusepointedorsharpobjectsforcleaning.
2.Disinfecttheelectrodeswithalcohol-freedisinfectant.
Ensurethattheconnectorsandsocketsdonotgetwet.
SterilizingReusableElectrodes
Usethefollowingproceduretosterilizereusableelectrodes:
Theonlyapprovedsterilizationmethodisgassterilization.
1.Sterilizereusableelectrodeswithethyleneoxidegas(EtO)atamaximum
temperatureof50°C(122°F).
2.Aftersterilizationiscomplete,followthemanufacturer'srecommendationsfor
requiredaeration.
ReplacingLeadwireAdapters
Althoughpropercleaningandstorageprolongthelifeofleadwires,youeventually
needtoreplacetheleadwireadapters.Thefollowingillustrationshowstheproper
methodforreplacingadapters.
