What to do if my GILES GEF-400 fryer will not turn on?
    • S
      Stephanie YangAug 19, 2025
If the Giles Commercial Food Equipment fryer isn't turning on and the power light is off (ILS model only), the issue might stem from several causes. First, ensure the fryer is properly connected to a power source. Check the fuse or breaker, and replace the fuse holder if it's cracked. A faulty power switch or improper supply voltage could also be the culprit; replace the power switch or connect to the correct voltage source. For safe operation, make sure the hood filter cover is securely closed. If the fire suppression system isn't armed, contact your local Ansul dealer. Finally, ensure the “Push to Start” button is held down for a full 5 seconds.

A sticking contactor could also be the problem and may need replacement. Additionally, a bad high limit board or a shorted/open high limit probe may require replacement.
