Parameters
member-id: Specifies the ID of an IRF member switch., which ranges from 1 to 4.
new-member-id: Assigns a new ID for the IRF member switch, which ranges from 1 to 4.
Description
Use the irf member renumber command to change the member ID of a switch in the IRF virtual device.
Use the undo irf member renumber command to restore the old IRF member ID before you reboot the
switch to validate its new member ID.
By default, the IRF member ID of a switch is 1.
After you change the IRF member ID of a switch, you must reboot the member switch to validate the
change.
If a newly added device uses the same member ID as an existing member, the existing member preserves
its ID, and the IRF virtual device automatically assigns the smallest free member ID to the new member.
IMPORTANT:
When you change IRF member switch IDs, make sure that you fully understand its impact. Member IDs
affect IRF port numbering and priorities. Any member ID chan

Suppose the IRF virtual device has three members with member IDs of 1, 2 and 3. Chan

e the member ID
of device 2 to 3, change that of device 3 to 2, reboot both devices, and add them into the IRF virtual device
again. Then device 2 uses the original

urations of device 3, and device 3 uses those of device
2.
