Itisrecommendedtoremovetheasheswhenthefurnace
isnotinoperation.Thislessensthechancesofcomingin
contactwithhotsurfaces.Ashescanberemovedwhilein
operationbut,extracaremustbetaken.
Open Outer Ash Door
Liftthetwolatchesshowningure63andopentheouterdoor
asshowningure64.IftheDistributionBlowerisrunning
whentheouterdoorisopen,someairwillescapearound
thedooropening.Thisisnotaproblem,howeveranydust
thatiscausedintheashremovalprocesscanpotentiallybe
blownaround.

Remove Ash Pan
Alwayswearglovestoremoveashpan.Grabtheashpan
bythehandleandpullitoutofthefurnace.Liftthehandle
anduseitforcarryingtheashpan. Close the inner door
before disposing of the ashes.
Disposal of Ashes
Ashes should be placed in a metal container with a
tight fitting lid. The closed container of ashes should
be placed on a non-combustible oor or on the ground,
well away from all combustible materials, pending nal
disposal. If ashes are disposed of by burial in soil or
otherwiselocallydispersed,theyshouldberetainedinthe
closed container until all cinders have thoroughly cooled.
Soot and Flyash: Formation and Need for Removal
Theproducts ofcombustion will containsmall particles of
yash.Theyashwillcollectintheexhaustventingsystem
andrestricttheowoftheuegases.Incompletecombustion,
such as occurs during startup, shutdown, or incorrect
operation of the furnace will lead to some soot formation
whichwillcollectintheexhaustventingsystem.Theexhaust
ventingsystemshouldbeinspectedatleasttwicemonthly
todetermineifcleaningisnecessary.
NOTE: Keep hopper lid and ash pan doors closed
during operation and maintain all seals in good
condition.
