  Random dots and dashes during transmission with your Heathkit Measuring Instruments can occur if the paddle sensitivity is set too high. Try adjusting the paddle sensitivity. It can also happen due to RF at the station location. To resolve this, ensure all equipment is grounded to a common point. In extreme cases, rest your hand on a grounded metal plate positioned under the keyer.
