7.3 Using the pannier rack
Crash caused by loaded pannier rack
The riding performance of the bicycle changes with a
loaded pannier rack, in particular when steering and
braking. This can lead to a loss of control. This may
result in a crash and injuries.
You should practice how to use a loaded pannier
rack safely and reliably before using the bicycle in
public spaces.
Crash caused by unsecured luggage
Loose or unsecured objects on the pannier rack, e.g.
belts, may become caught in the rear wheel. This may
result in a crash and injuries.
Objects which are fastened to the pannier rack may
cover the bicycle's reflectors and the running light. The
bicycle may be overseen on public roads. This may
result in a crash and injuries.
Secure any objects which are attached to the
pannier rack sufficiently.
Objects fastened to the pannier rack must never
cover the reflectors, the lamp or the rear light.
Crushing the fingers in the spring flap
The spring flap on the pannier rack operates with a high
clamping force. There is a risk of crushing the fingers.
Never allow the spring flap to snap shut in an
uncontrolled manner.
Be careful where you position your fingers when
closing the spring flap.
