Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the HIKVISION DS-PDMC-EG2-WE and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The DS-PDMC-EG2-WB/WE Wireless Magnet Detector is a security device designed to detect the opening of doors or windows. When a door or window is opened, the sensor triggers an alarm, which is then sent to a security control panel or a mobile client. The device is certified by Telefication with Security Grade 2 and Environmental Class II, adhering to EN 50131-1:2006+A2:2017, EN 50131-2-6:2008, and EN 50131-5-3:2017 standards.

Function Description

The primary function of the DS-PDMC-EG2-WB/WE is to monitor the open/closed status of doors and windows. It operates by detecting the distance between the main sensor unit and a magnetic stick.

  • Door Magnetic Sensor Alarm: An alarm is triggered when the distance between the sensor and the magnetic stick exceeds 3 cm. Upon detection, the indicator light flashes once.
  • Tamper Alarm: The device is equipped with a tamper button. If the detector is disassembled or removed from its installed position, a tamper alarm will be triggered.
  • External Inputs: The device supports two external inputs, which can be configured as Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), TAMPER, or Pulse via the AX PRO client. If either of these inputs generates an alarm event, the contact reports the alarm to the AX PRO system, and the LED indicator keeps blue for 2 seconds.
  • Zone Types: Users can select various zone types for the detector, allowing for flexible integration into different security setups.
  • Stay Arm Bypass: This feature allows users to bypass the zone from stay arming, providing flexibility for specific security needs.
  • Chime Function: The device can be configured to enable a chime, providing an audible alert when the door or window is opened.
  • Silent Zone: An option to make the zone silent when an alarm is triggered, useful in situations where a discreet alert is preferred.
  • Double Knock: This feature allows the zone to trigger an alarm only after two distinct "knocks" or detections, reducing false alarms.
  • Cross Zone: If an alarm is triggered in both of two linked zones within a set timeframe, two alarm messages will be reported, adding an extra layer of verification.
  • Link Camera: The device can be linked with a camera for intruder verification, allowing visual confirmation of alarm events.
  • Magnetic Contact Enable/Disable: Users can enable or disable the magnetic contact function.
  • Wired External Contact: The device supports two wired external contacts, which can be enabled or disabled independently.
  • LED Indicator Control: The LED indicator can be turned on or off as needed.
  • Polling Rate: The interval of heartbeat can be set, ensuring regular communication with the control panel.
  • Signal Strength Test: A dedicated mode to test and view the LED indication for signal strength.
  • Detection Zone Test: This mode allows users to separate the contact and start a test using the Magnet Detection Performance Table to ensure optimal alarm gap.
  • Zone Bypass: An option to bypass the entire zone.

Usage Features

The DS-PDMC-EG2-WB/WE is designed for straightforward installation and setup, with features that enhance user experience and system reliability.

  • Power On: To power on the device, the front and rear panels are disassembled by digging the groove, and the power switch is turned to the "ON" position.
  • Enrollment: The detector can be enrolled into the security control panel in two ways:
    • Local Enrollment: By tapping the "Enrollment Mode" button on the control panel page in the APP, the control panel enters enrollment status. Powering on the peripheral then automatically enrolls it.
    • QR Code/Serial Number Enrollment: By tapping the "+" icon in the APP and scanning the QR code or inputting the serial number on the peripheral, then powering on the peripheral, it will be automatically enrolled.
  • Signal Strength Check: Before final installation, users can enter signal checking mode via the control panel. The LED indicator provides visual feedback on signal strength: Solid Green for strong, Solid Orange for medium, Solid Red for weak, and Red light flashing for lost signal.
  • Installation Methods: The rear panel can be secured to the wall using two screws (Method 1) or by pasting it with sponge tape (Method 2). For proper TAMPER function, the sponge tape thickness should not exceed 1mm. Note that installation with sponge tape is not EN compliant. For EN compliance, the front and rear panels should be secured with screws.
  • Positioning: The sensor and magnetic stick should be installed at the edge of the door or window, ensuring they are aligned. An optional cable can be routed through a cable hole if external inputs are required.
  • Testing: After enrollment, the contact automatically enters a test phase, indicated by a red LED. Separating the contact and the magnetic stick will turn the LED green and trigger an alarm, allowing users to adjust the installation position for a satisfactory alarm gap. The alarm triggers when the gap exceeds the values specified in the Magnet Detection Performance Table, and the LED remains blue for 2 seconds.
  • App Integration: The device can be managed via a mobile application, allowing users to view device status, including temperature, signal intensity, battery level, lid status, magnetic contact status, and external contact status. Settings can be adjusted through the app.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance and adherence to safety guidelines are crucial for the longevity and reliable operation of the DS-PDMC-EG2-WB/WE.

  • Battery Replacement: The device uses a CR123A x 1 battery (included). It is critical to replace the battery with the correct type to avoid the risk of explosion. Used batteries must be disposed of according to local regulations and instructions provided by the battery manufacturer.
  • Formatting: To restore the device to default settings, remove the battery, then hold the TAMPER button while powering the detector on. The red LED will flash three times to confirm formatting completion.
  • Environmental Considerations:
    • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to physical shock.
    • Do not expose the device to high electromagnetism radiation.
    • Avoid installation on vibrating surfaces or places subject to shock.
    • Do not place the device in extremely hot, cold, dusty, or damp locations.
    • The device is for indoor use and must be kept from rain and moisture.
    • Avoid direct sunlight, low ventilation, or heat sources like heaters or radiators, as this can cause fire hazards.
    • Do not aim the device at the sun or other bright places, as this can cause blooming or smear, affecting the sensor's endurance.
    • Do not expose the device to corrosive gas or explosive situations.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • All electronic operations must comply with local electrical safety, fire prevention, and other regulations.
    • Ensure power is disconnected before wiring, installing, or dismantling the device.
    • If smoke, odors, or noise emanate from the device, immediately turn off power, unplug the cable, and contact the service center.
    • Battery Safety:
      • Risk of explosion if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
      • Disposal of a battery into fire or a hot oven, or mechanically crushing or cutting a battery, can result in an explosion.
      • Leaving a battery in an extremely high-temperature environment or subjecting it to extremely low air pressure can lead to an explosion or leakage of flammable liquid or gas.
      • Chemical Burning Danger: Do not swallow the battery. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If batteries are swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
  • WEEE Compliance: Products marked with the WEEE symbol should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste in the European Union. For proper recycling, return the product to the local supplier or designated collection points.
  • Battery Directive Compliance: The product contains a battery that should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste. The battery is marked with a symbol that may include lettering for cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), or mercury (Hg). For proper recycling, return the battery to the supplier or a designated collection point.
