Do you have a question about the HIKVISION DS-PDMCK-EG2-WE and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document describes the DS-PDMCK-EG2-WE Wireless Magnet Shock Detector, a device designed to enhance security by detecting door or window openings, as well as shock and tilt events. The detector integrates seamlessly with a security control panel, sending alarm notifications to a central system or mobile client when triggered.

Function Description

The primary function of this detector is to monitor the status of doors and windows. It operates as a door magnetic sensor, triggering an alarm if the distance between the main sensor unit and its accompanying magnet exceeds 3 cm. This immediate detection of an open door or window is crucial for perimeter security.

Beyond simple open/close detection, the device incorporates advanced sensing capabilities:

  • Shock Detection: The detector can identify physical impacts or vibrations, such as those caused by forced entry attempts. Users can adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor (High, Normal, Low) to suit different environments and materials (e.g., concrete, wood, window), ensuring optimal performance and minimizing false alarms.
  • Tilt Detection: This feature allows the detector to sense changes in its orientation. If the device is tilted beyond a pre-set angle (configurable from 5° to 25° via the mobile client software), an alarm will be triggered. This is particularly useful for protecting objects that should not be moved or tilted. The tilt detection is applicable to both horizontal and vertical scenes, using the geocentric direction as the reference standard.
  • Tamper Alarm: For enhanced security, the detector includes a tamper button. If the device is disassembled or forcibly removed from its installation location, a tamper alarm will be triggered, alerting users to potential interference with the security system.

The detector also supports two external inputs, which can be configured as Normally Open (NO), Normally Closed (NC), Tamper, or Pulse. This flexibility allows for the integration of additional wired sensors, expanding the monitoring capabilities of the system. When any of these external inputs generate an alarm event, the detector reports it to the AX PRO control panel.

Usage Features

The DS-PDMCK-EG2-WE is designed for user-friendly operation and integration:

  • Power On: To power on the device, users need to disassemble the unit by digging the groove, remove the front and rear panels, and then switch the power button to "ON."
  • Enrollment: The detector can be enrolled into the security control panel either locally or via QR code/serial number using the mobile application. Local enrollment involves placing the control panel in "Enrollment Mode" and then powering on the peripheral. For QR code enrollment, users scan the QR code or input the serial number through the app after powering on the peripheral.
  • Testing: After enrollment, the device automatically enters a test mode.
    • Magnet Test: Users can separate the sensor and magnet to verify the alarm gap. The LED indicator turns green when the alarm is triggered, helping to adjust the installation position for optimal performance.
    • Shock Test: Users can knock on the door or window where the detector is installed and adjust the shock sensitivity until the blue LED remains illuminated for 2 seconds, confirming proper detection.
    • Tilt Test: By tilting the detector beyond the set angle, users can confirm that the blue LED remains illuminated for 2 seconds, indicating successful tilt detection.
  • Installation: The detector offers two installation methods for the rear panel:
    • Method 1 (Screws): Secure the rear panel to the wall using two screws. This method is recommended for EN compliance and when shock detection is enabled.
    • Method 2 (Sponge Tape): Paste the rear panel to the wall using sponge tape. It is important to note that for the TAMPER function to work correctly, the sponge tape thickness should not exceed 1mm. Installation with sponge tape is not EN compliant and is not recommended if shock detection is enabled.
    • For both methods, it is crucial to secure the front and rear panels with screws for EN compliance. The sensor and magnet should be aligned at the door or window's edge.
  • Signal Strength Check: Before final installation, users can check the signal strength by triggering the detector while the control panel is in signal checking mode. A solid green LED indicates a strong signal, orange for medium, red for weak, and a flashing red light signifies a lost signal.
  • App Integration: The mobile application provides comprehensive control and monitoring features. Users can view device status, including temperature, signal intensity, battery level, lid status, magnetic contact status, and external contact status. The app also allows for configuration of various settings:
    • Zone Type: Select the type of zone the detector belongs to.
    • Stay Arm Bypass: Bypass the zone from stay arming.
    • Chime: Enable or disable the chime function.
    • Enable Silent Zone: Keep the zone silent when an alarm is triggered.
    • Double Knock: Configure the zone to alarm only after two knocks.
    • Cross Zone: If an alarm is triggered in two linked zones within a set time, two alarm messages will be reported.
    • Link Camera: Link with a camera for intruder verification.
    • Magnetic Contact: Enable or disable magnetic contact (not allowed under EN).
    • External Contact 1 & 2: Enable or disable wired external contacts.
    • LED: Turn the LED indicator on or off.
    • Polling Rate: Set the heartbeat interval.
    • Signal Strength Test: Enter test mode to view LED indication.
    • Detection Zone Test: Enter test mode, separate the contact, and start the test with the Magnet Detection Performance Table.
    • Zone Bypass: Bypass the zone.

Maintenance Features

The detector is designed with several features to ensure longevity and ease of maintenance:

  • Battery Replacement: The device uses a CR123A x 1 battery. Users are cautioned to replace the battery with the correct type to avoid explosion risks and to dispose of used batteries according to local regulations. Improper battery replacement can defeat safeguards.
  • Formatting: To restore the device to its default settings, users need to remove the battery, then hold the TAMPER button while powering the detector on. The red LED will flash three times to indicate successful formatting.
  • Environmental Considerations: The device is designed for indoor use and should be protected from rain and moisture. It should not be exposed to direct sunlight, low ventilation, or heat sources like heaters or radiators, as this can cause fire hazards. It should also be kept away from extremely hot, cold, dusty, or damp locations, and high electromagnetic radiation.
  • Physical Handling: Users are advised not to drop the device or subject it to physical shock, and to avoid installing it on vibrating surfaces to prevent equipment damage.
  • Cleaning: The manual implicitly suggests keeping the device clean and free from corrosive gases to prevent damage.
  • Troubleshooting: In case of smoke, odors, or noise from the device, users should immediately turn off the power, unplug the power cable, and contact the service center.
  • Battery Compartment Safety: A crucial safety warning advises users to stop using the product and keep it away from children if the battery compartment does not close securely, highlighting the danger of chemical burns if the battery is swallowed.
