Overview

This document outlines the features, usage, and maintenance of the DS-PDP15P-EG2-WB/WE Wireless PIR Detector, a passive infrared motion detector designed for security applications.

Function Description

The DS-PDP15P-EG2-WB/WE is a wireless PIR (Passive Infrared) detector that identifies motion within its detection range. It operates on a battery and communicates wirelessly with a security control panel. The detector features a power switch, an LED indicator for status, and a tamper switch to detect unauthorized opening or removal from its mounting location. It also includes a bracket tamper port for enhanced security.

Key functionalities include:

  • Motion Detection: Utilizes passive infrared technology to sense movement within its defined zones and planes.
  • Wireless Communication: Employs Tri-X Wireless and Two-Way RF Wireless technologies for secure communication with the control panel, supporting frequency hopping and AES-128 encryption.
  • Tamper Protection: Equipped with front and rear tamper protection to alert the system if the device is tampered with or removed from its mounting.
  • Environmental Monitoring: Includes an environment temperature indicator and signal strength indicator to aid in optimal placement and performance.
  • Digital Processing: Features digital temperature compensation, creep zone protection, and sealed optics for reliable detection and reduced false alarms.
  • Pet Immunity: Designed with pet immunity, allowing it to differentiate between human movement and pets up to 30kg, minimizing false alarms in homes with pets.
  • Adjustable Sensitivity: The detector's sensitivity can be adjusted, allowing users to configure it to their specific environment and detection needs. Higher sensitivity makes it easier for the intruder to be detected.
  • Zone Type Selection: Users can select different zone types for the detector, tailoring its behavior within the security system.
  • Stay Arm Bypass: Allows the user to bypass the zone from stay arming, useful for specific scenarios where a zone needs to be temporarily inactive during partial arming.
  • Chime Function: Can be configured to enable a chime, providing an audible alert when motion is detected in the zone.
  • Silent Zone: Offers an option to make the zone silent while an alarm is triggered, useful in situations where discreet operation is preferred.
  • Double Knock: Configurable to trigger an alarm only after two detections within a specified timeframe, reducing false alarms from transient events.
  • Cross Zone: If linked with other zones, this feature allows for two alarm messages to be reported if an alarm is triggered in both linked zones within a set time, enhancing verification.
  • Swinger Limit Activation: Users can set a limit on the number of times the detector can trigger within a specific period, preventing excessive alarms from continuous movement.
  • Trigger Interval: Defines the interval between triggers, ensuring that the alarm message is not repeated unnecessarily within that time.
  • LED Control: The LED indicator can be turned on or off as needed.
  • Polling Rate: Allows setting the interval of the heartbeat signal, which is used by the control panel to monitor the detector's online status.
  • Test Modes: Includes Signal Strength Test and Detection Zone Test modes to assist with installation and verification of proper operation.
  • Zone Bypass: Provides the ability to bypass the zone, temporarily disabling its detection capabilities.

Usage Features

The detector is designed for straightforward enrollment and installation.

  • Enrollment: The device can be enrolled locally via the control panel's enrollment mode or by scanning a QR code/inputting the serial number via the Hik-Pro app. The enrollment process typically takes 3 to 10 seconds.
  • Installation: The detector can be installed using screws for a secure wall mount or with sponge tape for a non-EN compliant installation. It supports both wall bracket fitting and ceiling bracket fitting (non-EN compliant).
  • Signal Strength Check: After installation, users can check the signal strength through the control panel. A solid green light indicates a strong signal, orange for medium, and red for weak. Flashing red indicates failure.
  • Walk Test Mode: Upon enrollment, the detector enters a 3-minute walk test mode. During this time, users can trigger the detector to verify its detection range and proper installation. A blue LED indicates correct positioning.
  • App Integration: The Hik-Pro app allows users to log in, add the control panel, and manage the detector. Through the app, users can view device status (temperature, signal intensity, battery level, lid status, arming/disarming status) and access settings to configure various functions.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of the detector.

  • Battery Replacement: The detector is battery-powered. When a low voltage message appears, it indicates approximately 30 days of remaining battery life, prompting timely replacement. It is crucial to replace the battery with the correct type to avoid explosion hazards and to dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
  • Formatting: The device can be formatted by holding the tamper switch for 8 seconds while powering it on. The red LED will flash three times upon successful formatting.
  • General Care:
    • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to physical shock.
    • Do not expose the device to high electromagnetism radiation.
    • Install on stable surfaces, avoiding vibrations.
    • Ensure power is disconnected before wiring, installing, or dismantling.
    • If smoke, odors, or noise occur, power off immediately and contact service.
    • Do not place the device in extreme temperatures (hot or cold), dusty, or damp locations.
    • Keep the device away from rain and moisture, as it is designed for indoor use.
    • Avoid direct sunlight, low ventilation, or heat sources like heaters/radiators to prevent fire hazards.
    • Do not aim the device at the sun or extra bright places to prevent blooming or smearing.
    • Do not expose the device to corrosive gases or explosive situations.
  • Compliance: All electronic operations must comply with electrical safety, fire prevention, and other local regulations. The product is CE marked, indicating compliance with relevant European directives (EMC, RE, RoHS). Used products and batteries should be recycled according to WEEE and battery directives, respectively.
