TAKING CARE OF UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS
ENGINE WILL NOT START
Possible Cause Correction
Fuel valve lever OFF. Turn lever ON (see page 23).
Engine switch OFF. Turn engine switch to ON
(see page 24).
Out of fuel. Refuel (see page 35).
Bad fuel; generator stored without
treating
or draining gasoline, or
refueled with bad gasoline.
Drain fuel tank and carburetor
(see page 49).
Refuel with fresh gasoline
(see page 35).
Low oil level caused Oil Alert to
stop en
gine.
Add oil (see page 37).
Turn engine switch to OFF and
then r
estart the engine.
Spark plug faulty, fouled, or
improperly gapp
ed.
Gap or replace spark plug
(see page 44).
Spark plug wet with fuel
(flooded engine).
Dry and reinstall spark plug.
Fuel filter restricted, carburetor
malfunction, ignition m
alfunction,
valves stuck, etc.
Take the generator to an
authorized Honda servicing dealer,
or refer to the shop manual.
