SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
• This section covers the crankcase separation to service the crankshaft.
• The following parts must be removed before separating the crankcase.
– Cylinder head (page 9-11)
– Cylinder and piston (page 10-4)
– Starter motor (page 21-6)
– NSS250S: Drive pulley (page 11-11)
– NSS250A: Drive pulley (page 11-18)
– Clutch/driven pulley (page 11-27)
– Flywheel/starter clutch (page 13-9)
– Rear wheel (page 16-5)
– NSS250A: Rear wheel speed sensor (page 18-26)
• In addition to the parts listed above, remove the following parts when the left crankcase is replaced.
– Oil pump (page 5-9)
– Oil pressure relief valve (page 5-7)
– VS sensor (page 22-20)
– Driven pulley sensor (page 24-60)
– Reed valve (page 5-8)
– Final reduction (page 12-6)
• Be careful not to damage the crankcase mating surfaces when separating and assembling the crankcase halves.
• Clean all disassembled parts with clean solvent and dry them using compressed air before inspection.
• When installing the crankshaft, be sure to use the special tools; position the special tools against the bearing inner race
and pull the crankshaft into the bearing until it is fully seated.
• Prior to assembling the crankcase halves, apply sealant to their mating surfaces, Wipe off excess sealant thoroughly.

Right/Left crankcase socket bolt 23 N·m (2.3 kgf·m, 17 lbf·ft) Apply locking agent to the threads.
Cam chain tensioner bolt 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft)
Bearing cap nut 33 N·m (3.4 kgf·m, 24 lbf·ft) Apply oil to the threads and seating surface.
Center stand hook bolt 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf·ft) Apply locking agent to the threads.
